I have listened (and watched some) online to Betty Ford's Michigan funeral service.  Lynne Cheney and Richard Norton Smith delivered very nice eulogies and the music was glorious.

Now, a nap...

On the Sundance there a  documentary about Nick Nolte.

Interesting conceit is that he is seen interviewing himself. There are the usually talking heads with the actors and directors who have worked with him

But why or why do they interview Ben Stiller? He tries to be funny. He seems to be in all these contemporary documents.

But why or why #2: Barbara Hershey doesn't look like Barbara Hershey.

Back from lunch (BLT-A and potato salad - excellent), and the little two-hour clean-up session which we got done in ninety minutes.  We did everything from the credits to about the twelve-minute mark, so the beginning at least doesn't have many white specks or any kinds of marks - just fairly heavy grain due to smoke and lighting.  I did have a conversation about grain reduction and sharpening - and I'm going back tomorrow to see some test side-by-side comparisons - not where they remove grain, but where they lessen it, and also side-by-side subtle sharpening tests.  I'm just curious to see them.  But the guy I was talking to, who happens to be a huge fan of Nudie, said he likes the grain and the way it looks because that's how he remembers the film.  And that's good to know - but I'm just curious as to what the first twelve minutes of the film would look like with slightly less grain and a touch of sharpening.  I doubt I'll do it, because I really cannot afford to spend one more penny on this, but I'm also just not sure I want to go that route - although, if we WERE going from the lost camera negative it would not have this much grain.  But the first twelve minutes look as good as they're gonna look.  We could do that to the rest of the film, but it would take ten to twenty more hours and it's just not bad enough to spend that kind of dough.

DR CILLA LIZ - it's time for people to stop inviting that friend to ANYTHING....ANYTHING.....as long as she is allowed to do that....she will do it.  YOU have stood up to her....and GOOD FOR YOU!

You should have scratched the other lady's name out......or circled it and charged her 50 cents for her share of the card.

I was pretty shocked that she wrote her name, I think she thought it was a group card or something, but she wasn't even invited, lol.  I let that slide because Mark didn't pass it around until our side of the table had looked at it, laughed about it etc.  He knows where it came from, so it bothered me, but not enough to say something.

DR Elmore, I once threw out a whole set of dishes rather than wash them.   I should add they were hand me downs from a friend, not a complete set and I hated them, but I did throw them out.   Ever since that time, I've had a dishwasher and it hasn't happened again.  I was young at the time

Having seen this clip from the Jon Strwart show, it's my belief that Mr and Mrs Bachmann are basing all of their bigotry and homophobia on internal self-loathing. Seriously, Mikey, if Mr Bachmann is not gay and filled with self-denial, I am Marie of Roumania. And that idiot Michelle is Cleopatra Queen of Denial.  I can only hope he's caught cruising a men's room before Michelle's campagn for president becomes a reign of terror. Is she running on a platform of "Keep American Stupid?" Personally, I think congress should pass a "Keep America Intelligent" campaign and deport or execute her.

Gees, I can't even argue with this

I put the butts in the roaster this morning at 8:30 and then had to go to a hearing.  I came home at about 11:00 and everything was fine so I went back to work to do a brief.  It took a lot longer than I planned, but when I came home about 5:30 pm  MAN!  It smelled SOOO good in the house.   It still has a few hours to go, but it's cooking.  I'm really glad it will be done today

We are now 68% funded.  I can't post the clip I did - way too long and frankly because it was completely dark in the room the iPhone camera just does too many weird things.

I am very disgusted with my yard guy.  He promised they would get it done today.  It rained this morning, but it was a whopping 1/4 of an inch.  Now, it needs to be done very badly and they didn't do it.  I left him a message and told him if they aren't going to do it in the morning I need to know tonight so I can hire someone else to get it done.   I actually have a client who gave me his lawn service card this week.  I could call him and I bet he'd do it.

Oh and it's going to be over 100 degrees heat index tomorrow.   I may just get up and do it at about 8:00 AM.  The neighbors are usually up by then.  I don't want to do it, but I'm not sure I can trust his crew to do it.

From tonight's news footage, the killer of the 9 year-old Hassidic boy in Broklyn is already having a rough time in jail with the inmates who are ready to kill him for murdering a child. Has anyone read Thornton Wilder's BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY? I read it over 40 years ago, but I have no real memory of it, but it's my memory - real or not - that it's a study of people who are fated to die on that bridge and how they got there.

Thinking about this novel keeps reminding me of this poor boy; he gets lost and walks till he asks a stranger for help. He could have asked a person who got him safely home but instead he ended up with his killer. I've just ordered a copy of the novel. I want to read it again now.
