Gillian Anderson has a British accent??

Her second husband may have been British, and I think she lives in London now.

It's hot!

t's hot up here
A lot up here
It's hot up here
Forever
A lot of fun
It's not up here
It's hot up here
No matter what

There's not a breath
Of air up here
And they're up here
Forever
It's not my fault
I got up here
I'll rot up here
I am so hot up here

Criminy, our "mortgage servicing" has been sold to some backwater business in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Not even sure they have a website.  I am not happy.

I am so glad we don't have to worry about that stuff any more.

The Monarch Scientist came to play with kittens, and now they are all tired out.

Larry, I keep meaning to mention:  did you know there are two (count 'em) versions of GREAT EXPECTATIONS on their way, a Masterpiece version with Gillian Anderson and a feature film with Helena Bonham Carter, each as Miss Havisham?

I did not know about this at all! The Masterpiece Theatre might be good, because I thought Gillian Anderson was wonderful in BLEAK HOUSE, and I like Bonham Carter but I'd need to know more about who's behind the film.  I pity any Miss Havisham having to follow up Martita Hunt in the David Lean film.

According to IMDB  There are 14 versions (not counting the above 2) of the story dating as far back 1917. Eight of the have been produced for TV.

Well, I did see all of WIVES AND DAUGHTERS before. I cannot believe I had forgotten so much of it. I remember little of NORTH & SOUTH, so I may watch that one again.

It is very humid here this week. And very hot. But sure how to compare it to the percentages you guys are giving.

On our weather forecast they just say the temperature in celsius. And then underneath it they put the new temperature with the word humidex beside it. So for example tomorrow is going to be something like 33C with a humidex making it 39C.  That is pretty hot for here (that's like 90s++).

It's VERY hot here.  I'm back again from more errands and whatnot and I'm ready to keel over.  I was really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, until I realized CDs are arriving and we have not only one but two releases to ship.

I would love to get rid of mosques.  They are most annoying, especially at the local drive in theatre....and on a hot night, you have to keep the windows of the car rolled up.....and outside at night it is very irritating to keep brushing them off your arms...and....

What?......oh.........

Never mind.
DR JRand60, I confused the word mosque with mosquitos yesterday! Oy.

Greetings from Toyland!
Herman Cain would like to see both mosquitoes and mosques banned from NYC.

Looks good. I never got his Harold Arlen CD, but I did get and enjoy "In the Still of the Night." Let us know how it is when you get your copy.

I loved Anne Bancroft in what has to rank as the worst "Great Expectations," the modern update with Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert DeNiro. It was filmed in Sarasota when I was living there, so we were all excited to see the movie. What a lousy sack of, well, Jane will fill in the rest of the sentence.

It's still about 100 degrees outside and I decided to heat up the grill for dinner. Anyway, roasted red pepper, grilled avocado and a delicious artisan sausage made with "beef, pork and bacon," as the ingredients list them. So, pork and bacon are two of my favorite vegetables, so this was an almost vegetarian meal.

Good morning, all! I was having one peculiar dream involving some sort of reunion and casting a Sondheim revival, so at least two of the folk I can remember from this dream are Victoria Mallory and Stev Sondhem. Beyond that, it's all too vague.

You mean that Sondheim has to audition for his own revival?  Tough crowd.

Grilled avocado?
Yeah, halve an avocado, just brush a little olive oil and a tiny bit of salt on each half, and stick them on the grill, peel side down first and then the open faced sided. Do it quickly and it adds a smoky flavor to the avocado.
