DR JEANNE in my store the CD's are in the aisle with the light bulbs, paint brushes, and dog leashes.

If you can't find them, let me know, and I can pick you up a couple this week.

Oh, thanks. I'll try to stop by this week. Do you go to your Dollar Tree often?

Trying hard to like the king of surf guitar, Dick Dale, as he is playing down the street next weekend, but the best of cd is just not doing it for me.

Probably will see the show anyway.  2 days, 25 bands, 5.00 cover charge each day. 2 blocks away.

The title of today's topic reminded me of the Howard Dietz lyrics

I'll go my way by myself, this is the end of romance.
I'll go my way by myself, love is only a dance.
I'll try to apply myself and teach my heart to sing.
I'll go my way by myself like a bird on the wing,
I'll face the unknown, i'll build a world of my own;
No one knows better than i, myself, i'm by myself alone.
I'll go my way by myself, here's how the comedy ends.
I'll have to deny myself love and laughter and friends.
Grey clouds in sky above have put a blot on my fun.
I'll try to fly high above for a place in the sun.
I'll face the unknown, i'll build a world of my own;
No one knows better than i, myself, i'm by myself alone.

Someone asked me to see a friends band last night.  Local venue, so we saw the band, 13 (think mosh pit, be careful not to get knocked over) but the guitarists were really good.  Then  the band he wanted to see came on , Pornstars and Prostitutes.  Next to me was some girl yelling "if you're over 30 go home" , all I wanted to say was that I'm almost 60 and having a better time than she was.  I gave her girl friend a dirty look and 2 boys came and helped take her away.  Guess my look held some power.

Oh to be young again. NOT.

If you flashed the band, they gave you a drum stick with all band members autographs.

I did have a good time. Then we went to the Watermark, the local hangout for all the beautiful people.  Just to do a walk through, that was even more fun.

We are not part of the beautiful people scene, but people watching is the best.

Total evening for 2, 20.00.   And a great time.  ;D

I think maybe I'm finally feeling better.  Sheesh!  Luckily there was nothing that had to be done today. I do have many things to do tomorrow, so I'm hoping whatever this is has passed

WOW this is way cool, Barry Manilow is sending a semi truck of brand new band instruments to Joplin.  The guy he mentions at Joplin High is the band director and a good friend of jhvw

Rehearsal with orchestra and chorus is over, Judy has arrived safely and in three more hours we will meet for dinner. I may take a nap for a bit.

I am indeed having a great time, and I'm already sad to be leaving my new friends. Joe andf Jonathan are great guys and they've been super hosts. David Brophy, who works his butt off at too many jobs, is a wonderful conductor and I really think hye's special. His wife is our piccolo player, and I like them both very much. We've now played through every note of the score except for the little string dance that finishes the original opening of Act Two, and I'm anticipating no problems. I may compare the full score with the vocal score to ensuire that all is well.

Recording commences at 3pm tomorrow, which is 10am in Manhattan. Keep them good vibes coming!

BK, good luck with this Walmart mess.

Recording vibes for elmore and company!

My nephew Andy posted it on his FB or I wouldn't have heard either.  I think it's even cooler he hasn't made a big deal out of it.  Since schools started there last week my guess is that it's already happened.  I haven't talked to Jon in awhile, I'm anxious to hear about it from him

The funny thing is that my brother in law looks like Barry Manilow - well they used to look alike.  What are the odds that Barry Manilow would be the one to come through in the town where he lives!

My niece was so happy yesterday. She learned how to dive.

For some odd reason they don't teach it in swimming lessons until a very high level (where the kids would be 8+).  So even though she is in a high level of classes. They did not teach her this whole summer.

Anyhow we were at the pool yesterday and i asked her if she wanted to practice (she did). So i asked the lifeguard on the chair what i should do since i was not sure whether to hold her knees, her legs or what.

She told me the diving coach was sitting doing nothing. So he came and showed my niece for like 20 minutes. Just one on one. It was really good. And by the end she could dive. She was so proud of herself. It was great. And at least i didn't accidently teach her the wrong way (even the life guard on the chair was not sure exactly how to do it).

And thanks, I'm not very good at being sick. I usually push it and think I have too much to do, so I'm glad if it had to happen it was on a weekend

Here's the whole video that I'm assuming was shown at the Joplin schools. The first part is alumni, the second part is celebrities, including the Barry Manilow statement

I'm still amazed they started school on time.  The tornado was just May 22.  We'll be spending Thanksgiving there this year
