Well, you've read the notes, the notes, like the gun, were quick, and now it is time for you to post until the quick cows come home.

We had a good show last night, albeit with a shockingly small audience. But since some schools in the area start back up tomorrow, and since some schools starts back up next week, I'm guessing most families were either on their way back or heading to vacation.

But it was a good show, and a friend I hadn't seen in a few years was there tonight, and we had a great time catching up.

My 11:45pm bus which usually doesn't end up leaving until 12:30am, actually left at 11:46pm. And since there was no traffic on the way up, we pulled up to Penn Station at 3:30am, and I was back home on the UES at 3:45am.

And now it's time for me to grab a few more hours of sleep. -I zonked out on the bus somewhere between DC and Baltimore and didn't wake up until we were at the end of the Turnpike. Anyhoo...

Goodnight.

Good morning, all! Today we need the vibes because this day's two recording sessions will determine how we stand for the next two days: wew have too much music to record in too little time and today will determine our statuis for finishing up this week. I've been kicking and screaming for too long, but our financial man - to whom I would never offer financial, legal, or business advice since I know next to nothing - has no problems in making decisions about recording budgets and schedules without input from people who've worked in the territory for years. Both the record producer and I are concerned, but Judy says if all runs smoothly today, we're fine. Keep them vibes coming!

We don't begin until 3, so around 2pm I will walk down to the National Concert Hall and set up shop. Our sessions are 3-6, 7-10. Tomorrow, it's 4-7 and 8-11. Rehearsal went well yesterday, and the orchestra is really solid. I think our only tricky spots are the dialogue sections, since we've had too few rehearsalks and I've never had the cast together at the same time. Oy!

Last night, Judy and I had a yummilicious dinner at Hugo's, a wonderful restaurant around the corner from the hotel on Bidgood Street; we both had salmon on garlic potatoes with salad greens, a starter of crab ravioli and a glass of chardonnay. We quaked with fear and how great the cast is.

Okay, I'm signing off. I wish everyone a good day of happiness, success, and health!

We had tax-free weekend on clothing purchases. Found a pair of jeans at Costco and some really nice shirts, so I can look good for all my online classes.

TOD: I love the way Vincente Minnelli uses color, especially in "The Band Wagon" and "The Pirate." There are some greens and purples that just leap out of the screen in ways I don't recall seeing in other movies, then or now.

Fellini played around with color beautifully in "Juliet of the Spirit," though I think he was more interested in the color looking good than in the movie.

I'm back in the office after a relaxing weekend on Long Island.

I waved at Deer Park when I went through on the train (both times).

But, before I go,

Good Vibes to Larry for the recording session in Dublin, my fair city.

Continued recording vibes to DR Elmore and company - and thanks for the postcard that arrived over the weekend!

We now have 3 postcards from exotic places on our refrigerator - DR Elmore's from Dublin, a clergy friend's from Bahrain (he's a Navy chaplain), and my friend Becky's from northern Ontario (where she and her husband are sailing the Great Lakes).

If I were a rich man I wouldn't be here at my desk! I'd be in Dublin or London or Cardiff or Paris or Amsterdam or Chicago or San Francisco or Portland or Seattle or Key West relaxing.

I don't know how purists will feel about someone having done this with a classic,  but this CLOSE-UP version of The Trolley Song is really interesting to me for some reason

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0odXnKhKBxQ

and there's this interesting side-by-side of the real film vs. the Judy davis recreation in the TV bio
