Just received in the mail the Warner DVD set Errol Flynn Signature Collection Volume 2. I love those classic Errol Flynn films. I already have volume 1 but for some reason didn't get round to buying volume 2 until now. Despite all these Blu-ray discs floating around, I still enjoy watching DVDs and I doubt that any of the films in this collection will ever go Blu. I also like the fact that Warner package these discs in slim cases which take up less space on shelves - one thing I'm really short of is storage space to put all these DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, books etc.  I can hardly move about the place without tripping over another pile of discs!

I have the same storage problem as you.  In fact, when we moved to Austin over 2 years ago, I had to sell off about 2500 titles in my collection.

THE PRIVATE FILES OF J. EDGAR HOOVER:

I saw that when it first came out.

It was an interesting movie and, if I recall correctly, Broderick Crawford delivered one of the beat performances he's given in years.

Fantastic news, DR Elmore!  Will you be going to Hilton Head?

Yep! Do you and Father Richard want to take a trip?

Can you email me the specifics?

Oh... And the black shirt I'm currently working is covered in dog hair. -Shoogy's been in quite the needy/affectionate mood this morning. Guess I'll be taking care of cleaning off my shirt sometime this morning. That's something.

DR Elmore - keep us posted...

In other news, you'll be interested that my book group enthusiastically agreed to read Emile Zola's The Ladies' Paradise as our November selection.  In the course of searching for a credible link to include on our website I found this interesting tidbit:

Lark Rise to Candleford Writer to Adapt Zola Novel for BBC1

As for the Topic of the Day...

I actually went through my iTunes Library the other day and created a playlist of some albums that I don't think I've listened to ever since I bought the CD/downloaded the files/burned them to my iTunes library/etc. In no particular order:

Jeremy Denk - Bach: Partitas 3, 4 & 6
Ben Folds Presents: University a Cappella
Next To Normal OCR
Eldar - Three Stories

Etc., etc., etc...

In other news...

I was just browsing the DRG Records website (for the first time in a long time), and noticed that there seems to be some sort of site-wide Sale going on. -Unless they're just listing their direct-from-the-manufacturer prices. I did notice that purchases are handled by myMusicandVideo.com -Has any DR dealt with them?

Friday morning greetings!  Today we must make Rob's bedroom habitable for his new bride, who's arriving this weekend for her first visit as a member of our family.  She's bringing Keltie, her family's Westie, so I guess we've acquired a grand-dog, too.

:)  Sooo cute.

I, on the other hand, am up after a good night's sleep.  Very gray out - I'll have to be jogging in the next thirty minutes as someone's coming by at noon to pick something up.

Got an e-mail from Kenny (I Was a Teenage Werewolf) Miller and he let me know he is going to be in LA when I am in LA which means that he, I, and Laurie (Queen of Outer Space) Mitchell will be painting the town red, together!!! This will make my vacation an absolute blast!

Went to the multiplex today to see TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY which I think has only opened in the UK and Ireland so far. Gary Oldman is excellent as the taciturn and inscrutable George Smiley, although he doesn't make one forget Alec Guinness' perfect performance in the original BBC TV adaptation. The film is photographed in a bleak greyness with no sun intruding as befits a cold war spy drama. It made a refreshing change to see a film without any explosions or car chases! Very fine music score by Alberto Inglesias - who also did the score for THE SKIN I LIVE IN which I saw last week.

DR George - Have you ever read the non-Kindle versions of the Benjamin Kritzer Trilogy?

??? ::) ???

Jose, OF COURSE I read the non-Kindle versions of the Benjamin Kritzer Trilogy!!  I bought them all directly from BK himself, when he first wrote them.  I got them WITH his autograph AND the CDs of songs that accompanied the books when purchased directly from BK himself, so I could've said that I'm reading the Benjamin Kritzer trilogy again...but I did specify that I'm reading "my new Kindle version" of the BK Trilogy.

:D
