Good luck DR JANE......I still say top loading washers are the best.  That's my review.

I like the reviews & the look of the LG only it might be too deep for short people.  I need to see it in person.  The matching dryer lid might only open sideways which will bother my back.  I found a list on epinions of quiet machines.  Since the laundry room is also my office I think I will try & find quiet machines.  I have read top loaders are more quiet to begin with.

;D

The repair guy will be sorry he didn't come out yesterday now that I have changed my mind.  He also sells them but I didn't like the review of what he suggested, since it was in stock.  The Crosley dryer seemed ok but one of the complaints on the washer was they have a tendency to over-flow.  NO THANK YOU!

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Are the English translations we see for Japanese names....such as Toshiro Mifune......phonetic translations of the Japanese symbols or are they English translations of the meanings of the Japanese name symbols?

I believe they are phonetic - not positive, but that's my memory.

I'm up again - got another two hours of sleep.  It's raining out and has been doing so since I went back to bed.  Hoping it abates enough to jog but if not, then that will have to wait.  And REALLY hoping it's done by late afternoon so it doesn't impact our Gardenia show.

Seems like the voting on DANCING WITH THE STARS is vøting off whoever's the least famous.

And this is surprising?   On "American Idol", it's never about the best vocalist.  Seldom ever, at any rate.  On AI, it seems to have more to do with cuteness.

The imagery this last comment brought forth had me cackling!   Jane leaning in and being swallowed by the dryer.

Or...the dreaded "Downy" sheet will pull her in and start a drying cycle.

I saw last week that Warners will be releasing season one of THE COURTSHIP OF EDDIE'S FATHER.  I'm contemplating it but it's on the pricey side...

My copy arrived in the mail on Monday.

"People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.
People let me tell you bout my best friend,
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

"People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun
Whether we're talkin' man to man or whether we're talking son to son.
Cause he's my best friend.
Yes he's my best friend."

Watching THE YOUNG DOCTORS on TCM.

Ben Gazzara was certainly most handsome and Ina Balin was more beautiful than I remembered.......

That's what happens in a popularity contest, which is what it really is in the early weeks of each season.

OK, back to work. Nothing much to add.  It's going to be 88 degrees here today.  Too hot for me.

In the Good News department:  my mom is getting her walking papers from the rehab center and will be going home tomorrow.  And it couldn't come a day too soon for her--she's at the point where she might pull a Chief Bromden and toss her walker at a window in order to escape.
Great news.

Got my T-shrit and blu-ray of FNM, also. For some reason I had thought it was going to be a Blu-ray/dvd combo. I do not yet have a Blu-ray machine, so will just hold onto it until that day comes.
I'm in the same boat. And after the water heater, that day don't be coming terribly soon.

Seems like the voting on DANCING WITH THE STARS is vøting off whoever's the least famous.

I was so mad last night. They were my favorite team!

It's not just about who is least famous, because JR Martinez is not famous (which is why he probably won't win). But how well-known you are does play a big part of things.

I think re: who went home last night part of it is because she is not that well known. I think part is because people thought she was safe. I also think part of it is that they've gone at the beginning of the show all of the weeks ( I think it's better to go towards the end of the show).  Also, some people really dislike her partner (i think he is a great choreographer).

I don't think it helped that Cher tweeted asking people to vote for Chaz (and saying she would come to the show next week if he was still on).

I don't like that the judges votes count for so little. :(

Finally it is sunny here today. Although quite cool and windy. But we've had 4 miserable days of dreariness and no sun (and no bike ride).

The weather channel shows sun every day for the next week. And i think towards the weekend it will start to get much warmer again. Very odd weather. Last week it was 80s. Now it is mid 50s. And the weekend could be mid 70s and sunny. Yeah!

Been E&T due to my own illness for a change.  Had a bad head cold that started Saturday morning and just got worse and worse.  I stayed home from the office and from visiting my mom at the rehab center the past two days and spent the time mostly laying on the sofa and watching Martha Stewart making paper mache bats.  Finally felt well enough this morning to force myself out of the house and into the office (though I still feel a little "iffy".)
