Morning shoot went wonderfully, and now we're awaiting the arrival of Gregory Harrison to do the shoot at my place.

I watched a bit of LOST HORIZON last night.  I'm stunned with all the extras that are on this MOD dvd.
I saw LOST HORIZON on its first theatrical run, so, I am looking forward to watching the uncut version - though I did sneak a peak at the "Living Together, Growing Together" fertility dance last night.  It is a jaw-dropping, but colorful, experience.

FLOP MUSICAL FILMS I LOVE:
HALF A SIXPENCE
DARLING LILI
XANADU
MOVIE, MOVIE
THE LITTLE PRICE
AT LONG LAST LOVE
and, dare I say it:
CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC.

Following the esteemed BK's opinions on the first three (chronologically speaking), STAR WARS films, I have decided to bit the bullet and buy that set as well.  I don't need the supplemental features, so I only bought the three disc edition of Chapters IV, V and VI.

Of course, you can say it. It made me chuckle, though. I've never seen it. But I had the picture novel.  The images just looked strange. What was Nancy Walker drinking?

And I loved "Movie Movie," too.

TOD - The Grass Harp, which opened the Power Center for the Performing Arts at The University of Michigan in 1971.  My friend, Doug, and I went to the gala opening night, attended by James Earl Jones, Helen Hayes, Truman Capote, among others.  The show went to Broadway and didn't last long, but I have fond memories of it.
Chain of Love is a great song.

I just got one of my holy grail albums on CD and I've put it on my office computer. I will take it home at lunchtime and add it to the shelf.

It's Sarah Vaughan Live in Tokyo (or Japan if you have the LP). I had the record and cassette for years and always wished it would be released on CD. I love this album and I love SV. I could listen to Bye, Bye Blackbird over and over again. It's the complete recording. The LP and the cassette both had things cut off due to time constraints. It was 1973 after all. Now I have the whole glorious thing in stereo!

Sarah Vaughan Live in Tokyo

I'm going to listen now.

Bye (Bye Blackbird)

thanks for the heads up on that. Love Sarah Vaughn. Love that song. I will never forget reading William Kennedy's "Ironweed" and getting to the end, where the song plays a prominent part of the conclusion. As it would happen, I was listening to a Bobby Short album and he started to sing the song at the same time. I was in tears by the time I finished.

DR MBarnum - I am sending vibes across the Atlantic to both of your friends, especially Laurie, with whom I have something in common that neither of us ever wanted.  I hope she is getting post-heart-attack care that's as effective as mine was and that she recovers stronger than ever.

Richard and I ventured out for a bit in search of some dinner and headed in the direction of the hotel where Francois works.  On the way we found a lovely charcuterie and decided to return there after seeking out Francois.  He was, indeed, working tonight and we had a lovely visit.  We returned to la charcuterie and bought grapes, a chicken & veggie salad, and a small container of chocolate sorbet.  We came back and watched BONES reruns, dubbed in French, while we ate.

Good Morning-- is it Friday yet??

Can't be...I'm not in Oregon, yet.  Tomorrow morning, my sister, my niece and I are going to visit our cousin in Coquille, Oregon for the weekend. :D

I hope that I'll be able to check in here every once in a while.  I might, with my Kindle, if I can find an unprotected Wi-Fi connection and the time to navigate through HHW on the Kindle...it's VERY slow going.

I'm not really into musicals but two film musicals which I did enjoy, and which I believe were big flops, were PAINT YOUR WAGON and MAN OF LA MANCHA.

I am torn about the musical version of LOST HORIZON.  I enjoy the original film and book.   I just don't like the songs.....and it could be the terrible choreography - the mediocre singer - OR the pedestrian direction......put them together and I find it hard to sit through.

It's fine until the first song.....and then.....

But the first song comes over the opening credits?

Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater must be having attendance problems with SAVING AIMEE.  They are now playing up the Kathy Lee Gifford connection.
