I've been watching a documentary filmed in 3D of the Hoover Dam and the Hoover Dam Bypass bridge. What an amazing bridge!. Anyone driven over it?

I believe my dad, in the late 1930s may have worked on its construction when he was in the Civil Conservation Corps.

DR ELMORE - the Upstage Award is given to that person who made the most of his time onstage in a supporting role.

I have three of them.....but I can always use another.

Some good competition this year....so we shall see.

It's time to head down to Angus McIndoe's for my lunch with Mr Pomahac. I've finished my writing, set aside the music to be photocopied in the morning, put everyone's music for rehearsal into manila envelopes, and found a big fat wrong note in "Good Old Mountan Dew."

Report at 5.

Last night's performance of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was the best so far...for just about everyone involved.  Pug (who's running lights) said that she make a couple of mistakes, but I didn't notice any, and I'm sure that no one in the audience did, either.  I think that we've all finally hit our collective strides. :D

Which of course means it's time to close.   :D

I watched "Captain America: The First Avenger" on Blu ray disc yesterday, and I thought it was super great fun!  Chris Evans is a terrific "Cap" and I think Joe Johnston and crew really captured the character's comic book vibe without being cartoonish.  I look forward to next summer's "The Avengers".

Tomorrow is Halloween.  My workplace is having a Halloween barbecue on our building's second floor patio.  They'll be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers (and vegan versions of same).  Potato salad, chips, a cookie and drink will also be part of the meal.

It's the first one we've had in ten years (last year, it was not held for some reason) for which I was not asked to provide potato salad.  They decided to go with CostCo potato salad.  I'm not at all offended as I'm not the only one who made potato salad (I always made 10 pounds of it...and all it got me was a free lunch:  A $7.50 meal ticket in exchange for about $15 worth of potato salad).

The spatchcock chicken was not brilliant. I'll stick to a traditional joint in future.

Yup, super great fun!  The special effects for Evans pre-Captain are terrific.

Thanks to MR BK for the Hairspray report.

And I will be looking forward to the Blue Flower report from DR ELMORE.

Today is the Annual Meeting of the Putnam County Playhouse where I will once again lose the Upstage Award to an undeserving performer.

What is the criteria for winning the Upstage Award?

Finishing up my review of CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND.  I was really impressed by Clooney's direction.

I haven't, but I want to. I hear you can't see anything from it because the sides are so high.

The documentary shows pedestrians walking along the footpath on the bridge and looking over the side.

Deception Pass, north of Seattle, is one of those bridges that I wish had higher sides to keep me from seeing over the edge.

Why would anyone want to look over the side?

Wow, Ron, it probably cost you even more than that, not to mention the time needed to make 10 lbs. of salad.
