We are all out of kittens this year, so we will have to give out candy instead.

Well, you can only do what you can do.

And on that note (C#), I'm off to my sister's.  The whole family is getting together and hiding out.  No one has ever come down her street...but then, she's only lived there for three years or so, so who knows what will happen tonight.

Have a Fun (and Safe) Halloween, Everyone!

We are back from seeing THE IDES OF MARCH and having dinner at the new Chipotle in Monroe.  Much of the movie was filmed in the Cincinnati area and it was fun figuring out the various locations.  The opening auditorium scene, we're pretty sure, was in Hall Auditorium at Miami University.  Hall is not in the Farmer School of Business as they made it look.  Also, at the end, when they're supposed to be at Xavier University in Cincinnati, the interior is clearly the Michigan League on the campus in Ann Arbor.

I seem to remember DR Jose commenting on similar incongruities that he picked up in BLACK SWAN.

DRs Cillaliz & JMK - about PAN AM:  I'd missed 2 episodes and hoped it had jelled while I was away.  Alas, for me it has not and I think it's not worth staying up late on Sunday nights.  The only character/actress I like is the French stewardess.

I like her too.  For the other characters I don't really like or dislike them.  I was thinking this week it's time to take it off the record on the DVR

welcome back to NYC vibes to DR JOSE.

Thanks to DR ELMORE for The Blue Flower report.....yikes!

I haven't watched Pan Am for two weeks, and I don't miss it.

AND I hated the ending of TAR last night - come on, producers!  Don't waste our time.

Out of curiousity, how many non elimination rounds have there been this year?

DR Cilla I hope you are feeling better today.

Thanks I am. I had a lot of pain in the night, though.  I quit taking my vitamin D and I think that's what did it.  I took a mega dose last night and slept flat on my back.  I was much much better this morning.  I'm not going to quit taking my D.

I also had trouble buying the conceit that the same crew would be sent to a different location each week.  More interesting for the writers, yes, but not how I suspect flight crew scheduling really works.

Three that I can remember, and I was just wondering last night if that was the last of them.

Halloween was super fun. My little niece decided she would go out for Halloween. She looked so cute.

After the first few houses she turned to us and said "i love trick or treating". She really liked it. And she does not like strangers.

The weather was pretty mild. I don't know the exact temp. But it was maybe high 40s.

I had a pumpkin head hat on. Three people thought i was a kid and wanted to give me candy.

My sister said it was because i was holding a bag. :)

Good Evening!

There are currently lots of vampires, zombies, hookers, naughty nurses, Super Mario's, ladybugs, pirates, wrestlers, etc. walking around New York City.

The first kid was CUUUUTTE.  About a year old, dressed up like a ladybug.

The father asked me if I was the pianist he always heard while he was walking the kid in the stroller.  :)

In other news...

When I was at New 42nd Street Studios earlier, I happened to run into DR elmore's friend and colleague, Rob Berman. And since Rob was there rehearsing the next workshop of YANK!, Cody Williams (from Arena's OKLAHOMA!) was also in the building. And then since I was there to play a rehearsal for Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming production of WHITE CHRISTMAS, I was reunited with a bunch of the staff and cast from when I played rehearsals for the second Broadway and National companies - which happened to include Melody Hollis. Then it turned out that one of the dance captains for this production was also in OKLAHOMA! :)

We've had a run of kids I would charitably call too old to be trick or treating.  ;)

I've never minded that, as long as they don't come after the porch light is turned off.

Are you required to play notes sequentially in alphabetical order?  Must make getting jobs difficult.

In fact I wrote a rather lovely lullaby for Gabe (if I do say so myself, which I do) with those first four notes, which my friend Susannah Mars sang in a cabaret we did, with one set devoted to children.  (We did a lovely Alan Broadbent-Dave Frishberg tune, too, as I recall.  I think it's called "Heart's Desire").
