Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled through, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling cows come home.

AARRGGHH!!  Well, late last night, I had "connectivity issues" AGAIN with my cable modem.  I called Comcast AGAIN and the guy said that he could see that my modem had reset itself more than a dozen times yesterday!  Probably the only thing that I haven't tried so far was to swap out the modem itself, so that's what I'll do tomorrow.  THIS had better be the fix for my Internet issues...I hope.

Good morning, all! I hate getting out of bed so early, but I had to be up at 6:00 to accomplish everything I have to do by noon. Yesterday afternoon, I wrote an opening section for the fiddle, and last night I revised the opening sequence to incorporate that and extend one sequence before the final choral entrance. I need to have the fixes photocopied and sorted by 10:00, since at that time I meet our McGlinn estate paralegal Geri at the McGlinnventory to search for the full score of "The Touch of Your Hand." After we hopefully find it, I head off to rehearsal, where DJ is staging the opening sequence.

That's my day: we rehearse until 6:00 and then I come home and revise whatever needs adjusting.

Most excellent vibes to all that need them.

And I will do one more posting which will get me to 9,000. I have actually posted more than that over the years , but when we changed over to this format my tally was wiped out

ASK BK #1

I being reading the West Side Story threads on HTF and getting a good chuckle with most of the comments that are coming. But there is one word that keeps cropping up.

Can you explain what moire is?

ASK BK #2

I asked this last week and I did not see an answer.

ASK BK

Is it necessary these days to have this blurb (or any variations) before a movie starts on DVD or Blu Ray? Some movies with just the movie with no extras, no commentaries also have it.

THE FOLLOWING INTERVIEWS AND COMMENTARIES ARE FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY. THE VIEW AND OPINIONS EXPRESSED THEREIN ARE THOSE OF THE INDIVIDUAL SPEAKERS AND NOT NOT NECESSARYILY REPRESENT THE VIEWS AND OPINIONS OF __________(Fill in the company name) OR ANY OF THEIR RESPECTIVE AFFILTES OR EMPLOYEES.

Is this to protect from a law suit of some kind?

Wednesday morning greetings!  I'll be spending much of today with my Mom, who has some paperwork for me to sign and some errands to run.  Mostly, I think she just wants to make sure I made it back from the other side of the world in one piece.

I watched WATER FOR ELEPHANTS last night.

I enjoyed it.

Makes me think it might be fun to have my own pet elephant.

We watched Ruggles of Red Gap last night. The DVD came from the library. It was a Chinese knock-off. The movie must have fallen into PD at some point. The print was in good shape though but the menus are in Chinese and English.

That being said, we really enjoyed the movie. It's in the Warner Vault series on DVD-R for $17.99

DR BEN - I don't think American copyrights are recognized in China - so if they can find any source for a DVD, they can make one and sell it.

Sorry for the news DR TCB.....but hopefully at least the pain injections will work.

DR MBARNUM - I am seriously considering ordering the Science Fiction Dance CD.....most entertaining.  Did your DVD of the Invasion of the Planet of Women work on your system?

I sympathise. I hate it when I have connection problems. A couple of months ago I suddenly lost my connection for 2 days which turned out to be something to do with the phone landline which was crackling. A phone company engineer called but just before he arrived the connection returned. He did tests but found nothing wrong. Fortunately it's been OK since.

I feel a bit rough after last night's eating and drinking session. And I've got to drag myself out for a similar social function tonight. It's a tough life  ;D

MichaelS, I will answer your question though I wasn't asked.  :)  Moiré is a technical term which actually comes from physics and refers to the optical illusion created by an interference pattern when two intersecting grids are superimposed.  You'll typically see Moiré on close-knit patterns like wideshots that include car grilles (Exodus has incredible Moiré in that regard) or skyscrapers, or alternatively on close-ups of things like herringbone (not Skip's show).  Think of the old Green Hornet TV logo background for a good example.  Here's another (though you have to imagine this kind of swirling and pulsing to get a real Moiré effect:

We have been largely internet hassle free since we switched from the abysmal Qwest to the less abysmal Comcast.  :)

If they make a documentary about Morgan Freeman, who's going to narrate it?  :)

In other exciting news department:  our temple is offering a series of meetings for parents of teenagers facilitated by a "life coach" (oy).  Betsy got to the supposed first one and no one was there.  She sent an email to the facilitator and we got this incredible email back full of psychobabble about how "disappointing" it is when expectations aren't met, etc., and how this was a learning opportunity for everyone.  For crying out loud--just tell us when the friggin' meeting is.  :)

My non-psychobabble response to Mr. Life Coach got a better answer with an actual time and place for the meeting.  ;)
