I have to deal with laundry and the post office. More to follow.

They don't let us do laundry at our post office.    :'(

One of the first things I noticed about the old SUPERMAN TV series was how all the actors said "a tall" for "at all".

May I just say that one of the first things I noticed about the internet is how everyone is an expert.

As did Frances - at least on This Is Your Life.

DR JMK did you see this SILENT footage from 1962 of Frances at the Miss DePauw University contest?  I wish I could download it and burn it to DVD.

Damned post office! I picked up my mail for the past week and half of it is damp and going into the garbage: there was a leak last week and my mail, sitting on the floor, in a non-watertight basket got soaked. To add insult to injury, my mail, which was to be held until today, was delivered yesterday because my primary carrier, who seems to be the only one informed, was off. The assholes running the Planetarium Station are fools. This is the third time in the past two years that mail has been delivered while I was away, and half the time my requests for the mail to be held never get to the carrier.

Color me pissed this morning.

TOD:  The cross-cut has always been a favorite.  Second favorite might be the hack.
I'm a chainsaw fan myself. You should see me when I rev up mine and let 'er rip. (I'm being serious, too.)

Love the photos, Larry. Sorry your day is a bright urine yellow. Didn't Nellie Forbush sing that?

All the HHW ladies should wear their hair in Frances' style in the clip above......she doesn't come on until about half way through - after the bathing suit competition, but I still can't figure out how it's done!

Too bad the clip is silent.  :-[

I'm almost positive I have a little snippet of this with sound, I'll have to check.  It was one of the things I got from Foxstar after the A&E episode aired.

TOD:

No fool like an old fool.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Wonderful, JRand.  Like you, I knew exactly what BK was looking for in terms of favorite "saws".

TOD:     And from "Into the Woods", we get a bunch of "saws":

No knot unties itself...

Sometimes the things you most wish for are not to be touched...

The harder to get, the better to have...

The difference between a cow and a bean is a bean can begin an adventure...

Slotted spoons don't hold much soup...

The prettier the flower, the farther from the path...

The closer to the family, the closer to the wine...

The mouth of a wolf's not the end of the world...

A servant is not just a dog, to a Prince....

Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor...

You may know what you need,  But to get what you want,  Better see that you keep what you have.

Sometimes the things you most wish for are not to be touched...

I am caught up to last Wednesday now.

This day cannot get worse. The elevator is out and no one in our goddammed building management has the consideration to tell us tenants anything. I would have held off the laundry rather than drag it up three flights.

FROM YESTERDAY

RE: The TV Series UNFORGETTABLE

Marilu Henner is a consultant to the series.

Her guest star role is the lead character's aunt who is suffering from dementia. The character's mother died from complications of dementia.

Thank you since I didn't watch it.

I am thinking of buying a book reader.

If you have a

Kindle (Amazon)
Nook (Barnes and Noble)
IPad (Apple)
Are there others?

If you have one what are your opinions?

Make sure you get a cover with straps vs a slide bar.  Mine slides out all the time.  I like the back-light on my Nook Color & that I can check out books from the library.  My issue with the Nook is it is too sensitive to movement & often turns pages when I don't want it too.  I expect the page that was missing recently would be missing in all of the eBooks.

I'm curious what issues others have with their readers.  Keith's iPad is terrific only it is too big for me & I'm sure would give too much light at night keeping him from sleeping.

I would Vote For The IPad-Because Beside being a Book Reader There Is So Much More You Can Use It For

When Keith updates his iPad I will give his current one a try.

It hasn't aired yet.  And Henner's story arc is not having her mother die...that's just background.
