Friday!!  Is a work day....Oh well.

I received my Dragon software but have not installed it yet.....the reviews on Amazon on neatly divided, so I am not sure that I will install it.

But.....the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions.....so they say.

Friday morning greetings!  It's ver-r-r-ry cold here - 21o - but clear and sunny.  I'm going to the Butler County National Philanthropy Day luncheon and this evening Richard and I and Rob and Mary Linda are going to the Meadows for a belated birthday celebration for Richard.  Between those 2 events we hope to get to the Verizon store to see about iPhones...

Good morning, all! I've been playing on the computer since 7:30 or so. I had one weird dream last night that I was recording with Rebecca Luker and we had a difficult producer. Then, I dreamed I was driving in Middletown, OH, and my car skidded out of control on a road running off State Route 122.

In an hour I have to be at Rodgers & Hammerstein to look over my scores for my restoration of DEAREST ENEMY from 2002 and then have luch with Bruce Pomahac.

TOD:

RE: pedestrians and crosswalks.

They've been putting up signs here about $100 fines if you don't stop at a crosswalk (and someone wants to cross).  Near where I love they had put up these big poles in the middle of the road (2 for a 3 lane street) and the $100 sign. That wasn't bad because you had to yield not to hit the poles.

But there are crosswalks (no light, just the yellow lines on the road and a big crosswalk sign posted beside it) now right on the turn onto the service road. And you can i guess be fined if you don't stop. But it is very dangerous for the driver. I'm always praying that nobody will be there trying to cross. Or that no cars will be behind me. Cars are going fairly fast and if you stop, i feel like there is a decent chance to get hit.

I stopped last week (no cars behind me) and i think the pedestrian was in shock.

About a month or two ago i was trying to walk my bike across and nobody would stop for me. Like 20 cars went by. I wasn't surprised. But they still should have stopped!

DVD: Secret Beyond the Door (Dir. Fritz Lang; 1947). New region free UK release - very well-presented on the Exposure Cinema label.
Blu: Still watching Mutiny on the Bounty.
CD: 55 Days at Peking. Which is considerably better than I expected from my memory of the film.

Years ago the Victorian food writer Mrs Beeton came up with the idea of a cheap sandwich for the underprivileged and in these difficult economic times apparently it’s making a comeback. You toast a piece of bread, butter it and season it with salt and pepper. You then place the toast in the middle of two slices of plain bread and then you….....Oh, that’s it!  You then munch away. Sound delicious doesn’t it….....or maybe not.

I've done the weekend shop but I won't say what meat I bought for the Sunday roast because I don't want to upset DR Jane.

Actually, although I like meat, I don't like the idea of eating animals either - I have to blank out those thoughts from my head. If I had to kill my own animals I would definitely be a vegetarian.

Hold your hand out and start walking.  Many drivers pretend that if you're just standing there you don't really want to cross or you would be crossing.  It's a rationalization born out of a desire to do things their way instead of the legal way.

There was a heartbreaking story this week in The Oregonian about two recent Reed graduates who were killed while crossing in a crosswalk.  Because the driver wasn't impaired, they declined to charge him, and the civil case went nowhere.  Sad.

Bruce forgot that he had another luncheon date scheduled, so I am home earlier than expected.  The good news of the day is that my reconstruction of the first Rogers & Hart musical comedy success, DEAREST ENEMY, is now going to be corrected and finished by spring of 2012, so that it can be a future recording project. I am very happy.
