Does anybody here watch the X Factor?

Last night's show made me so livid.

The format is odd because the public votes for the bottom 3. But the judges have a say in who stays and who goes. And each judge is mentoring certain contestants (Simon is mentoring the girls, Nicole those over 30...).  The judges keep voting for their own people regardless of talent. I get it. But it is so annoying.  And Paula, LA Reid and Nicole made me so mad last night i was fit to be tied :)

Jennifer, I caught the tail end of the guy who was singing to stay.  He was very emotional in his singing but his pitch varied wildly.  I did not hear the girl.

I saw how upset Simon was...and heard how upset the audience was...when the girl was booted.  It makes me glad I haven't watched more than two times.

These shows are NEVER fair.

Very nice column by Peter Filichia today...I really love his take on where songs would be best in "The Miracle on 34th Street".  Makes you want to wish them into existence.

These shows are NEVER fair.

The girl was the one who i picked to win from the first time she sang. She was so unique.

I think maybe they were trying to make it fair but letting the judges have some say in who got voted out.  But the way it turned out each judge was voting for the person they mentored.

And sometimes they were voting for who they thought was best on the save me song vs who was best overall who who would have a chance to win.

The guy had/has zero chance to win. The girl had a pretty decent chance to win (there are 3 people who have a chance according to the polls i've seen).

Simon had every right to be mad. It was one of the worst decisions i've seen.

Greetings from Toyland. It's still standing.

After today's email to the Master Toymaker, it may soon be dead.

I'm up, a little earlier than intended, thanks to the ringing of the telephonic device - I can't take calls this early - have to let my voice recuperate.

My thoughts exactly. I would rather not hear "She Had to Go Back" every again.

"Joy-joy." "Arpege-y-weg."

I am also awaiting a package of items that I paid for on November 15.....when I contacted the seller yesterday, she wrote....she doesn't know what happened....and anyway they were not insured, so she can't do anything about it.

If it was eBay and she can't prove she shipped them (tracking number), you automatically get your $ back via PayPal.

The mailman was just calling for me. Seems he witnessed the police chasing a car down the alley behind my house and they caught a carful of people. Perhaps they are responsible for the many burglaries that have taken place here recently.

Well, one of the lumps they removed during Dad's colonoscopy was cancerous. So, he goes in for a CAT scan on the 14th to see if it spread. The doctor had thought she got it call.

Dad sounded OK, not great but not bothered by prospect. He just sounds tired.

I told him that I could finish the book wherever I was, at this point, and that I had a free ticket on Southwest, if they needed me home. I don't know if I'll get that call or not.

So, please keep him in your prayers. i would appreciate it.

I was watching the excellent HBO documentary "Bobby Fischer Against the World" on TV today. I had no idea that Fischer died a few years ago - somehow I completely missed that. As a sometime chess player, I remember being totally enthralled watching and reading about his chess tournament against Boris Spassky which was very big news back in 1972.
