DR Micheal S - Did you go to a doctor to get your colitis diagnosed? Colitis symptoms are similar to other gastro-intestinal problems. If you haven't had it officially checked out, be sure to consult a doctor before starting an elimination diet right away. Sometimes that "cold turkey" approach to stop eating the "bad stuff" can exacerbate other problems.

Very nice column by Peter Filichia today...I really love his take on where songs would be best in "The Miracle on 34th Street".  Makes you want to wish them into existence.

Absolutely! ;D

DR Jose, did you and I see the Hunter Foster BONNIE & CLYDE together? I really liked it, too.

It's amazing: I find Frank Wildhorn the worst thing to happen to musicals since Sir Andrew, and people keep producing his shows! I know so many more talented writers who can't get a foot in the door. Sad.

Oh... Yes, we did see Bonnie & Clyde together!

Larry, I just pre-ordered Victor Herbert: Works for Cello and Piano/Solo Piano Works

I also pre-ordered a new recording of Scott Joplin's Treemonisha. :)

The TREEMONISHA is with the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra. I like a lot of their recordings but their musical director has a lot of cockamamie theories. He also hires some of the most godawful lady vocalists I've ever heard. Still, I want to buy the recording and I didn't know it was up for preorder. Our record producer Judy Sherman did it.

DR Jose, I had to stop at the 68th & Columbus post office, so I went to Magnolia Bakery afterwards. I was going to buy a vanilla-vanilla cupcake, but one of the bakers told me they were always there and I should get a gingerbread cupcake with vanilla frosting. I'll have it tonight.

I'd rather see theirs than anything by Frank Wildhorn.

A couple of items in my holiday angel display are silver and I decided that this year they HAD to be polished, so when I went to Kroger yesterday silver polish was on my list.  Unable to find it on my own, I asked at customer service and the clerk called the non-foods manager and asked, "Do we carry silver nail polish?"  When I told her, no, I wanted polish for silverware she looked at me like I'd asked for the Moon.  Another employee told me to go to Aisle 16, where I found exactly what I needed.  That little job is done now and, while I don't particularly like doing it, the items sure do look nice!

Good morning all

I woke up around 4am with a colitis attack.

I have reading up on what exactly I have. It is chronic.

Sunday (First day of the week) I am starting an ""Elimination Diet""
I stop eating products that have:

certain meats and fish
sugar
wheat
dairy (Activa seems to be okay but we'll See)
Some Fruit (I can have mangos, papays and banana. I dislike the first two, but papaya helps in digestion so I'll try its)
Sodas are out
Fruit juices, but I can have it if they are diluted with water
alcohol (Don't drink it anyway)
coffee/tea

After three weeks I can start introducing 1 group at a time.
So it seems it's going to be a long process

But the 1st three weeks ends just before Xmas so I will be able to have dinner with the family.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!  VIBES YOU SUCCEED & IT WORKS!!

The mailman was just calling for me. Seems he witnessed the police chasing a car down the alley behind my house and they caught a carful of people. Perhaps they are responsible for the many burglaries that have taken place here recently.

I hope they caught the thieves & that no unwanted people entered your house!

While swimming today my eyes were burning more than normal which explains why shortly after I left they closed the pool for maintenance.  My eyes are still burning & it is hard to use the computer.

Thanks, Jane. We haven't been burglarized, but the mailman says several of the neighbors have. I did notice that one of the people vomited in the street. Nice.

I'm very exciting, for the first time in two years I swam the crawl stroke using both my arms.  I was able to reach out of the water & over my head.  First I managed it doing the back stroke & then did the crawl.  I might not be able to move tomorrow but for now I'm exceptionally pleased with myself.  I really thought it would never happen.

Of course it is, and this is the perfect example of the kind of stupidity being produced today - stuff that would make funny satirical fodder, being done seriously - and why?

I ate some matzo brei and picked up several packages, one of which was a birthday gift from FJL and Skip - wonderful Godiva red velvet truffles.

Finished watching the DVD of The Cranes are Flying. The story is familiar enough.....Young lovers/Boy goes off to war/Girl enters into an unhappy marriage/Girl dreams of boy returning. But what sets it apart is the remarkable mobile camerawork which must have been a revelation in 1957 as the camera exhilaratingly swoops and soars around the action and indulges in lengthy, complex tracking shots. In the lead, Tatyana Samojlova is extraordinarily beautiful and talented.
