re: last night's TAR

DR Cillaliz, i could not disagree with your comment last night re: TAR more than i do. :)

Besides the fact that my favorite team was eliminated. Besides the fact that said team was the strongest by far.  Besides the fact that this finale will have fairly incompetent competitors ...

What actually bugged me the most was how it all went down.  If the 2 teams that arrived 2nd and 3rd had actually found the clue and arrived at the pit stop then it would have at least been fair. But what happened was the most unfair thing i've seen in a while on TAR. Ernie/Cindy told their drive specifically to go to Balboa statue. And said driver ignored their pleas and took them to a totally different place.

From what i've been reading it seems likely that production had these taxis from the same company waiting for all teams. So these drivers were all friends.  They probably didn't realize that this was a competition. But to me this is a production error and not in the spirit of the show.  I know some people like a sweet story (football player and his wife). And some people like the teams to all be equal (so you won't know who will the finale). I personally like the strongest best team to win.

I was actually a little disappointed with who went home on TAR last night.  I have found them to be uniquely positive and decent competitors, if a bit too religious for my own personal taste.  I really can't stand Ernie and Cindy, but maybe that's just because Cindy always looks like she's just sucked down a few dozen lemons.

see my rant in previous post.

And now I have some planning and packing to do for my trip to San Francisco. I had posted a tweet about my upcoming jaunt, and a very nice hotel tweeted that I shoud check out there award-winning restaurant. Well, I tweeted back, "How about a heavily discounted nightly rate?"... They're latest response: "We'd love to have you stay with us. We'll see what we can do." Stay tuned. :)

As for TAR:

I've only seen 1/2 an episode of this season.

Not a bad thing. Not a good thing. Just a thing.

I don't think I've seen a full episode of "Glee" yet this season either.

So, someone put a box of nativity leftovers in my office. I don't remember these guys in the story: The Baker, The Piper, and The Milliner.
Sounds like the makings of a dirty joke.

Just back from having had lunch with a few friends. I had parsnip soup followed by hot roast pork with salad in a small baguette plus several beers.
Me want.

Speaking of Time Warner, this morning was unbelievable.  For about fifteen minutes straight, the service kept shutting off then going on, like someone was having fun throwing a switch back and forth - I was literally watching the modem do this.  Of course I called but after twenty minutes on hold I went and did the four-mile jog.  Then I ate a meal, then picked up no packages (even though some are due) and now I'm back home doing a few things.

The saline pool definitely has more chlorine added than it used to have.  I need to get goggles.  My swim went well again.  I've always hated goggles & don't even know where to find them this time of year.  Guess I need to make some phone calls, once I can see again.

Apparently we really do have one person who feels they must show up on You Tube whenever a new episode goes up so they can "dislike" - it's so childish and pathetic.  Actually, there are two people who do it, but person two hasn't shown up yet - maybe one of the two decided to grow up.

I did wink & I was referring to the fact you can't seem to trust your post office.  I would be tempted (tempted not necessarily do it) to hand deliver all my local checks.

Jane, if you're not looking for prescription swimming goggles (which I've heard are quite expensive), you could search Amazon.com.  They have a lot of selections.  But if you want to find a local place to try them on, after you do that, you could check prices on Amazon and see which has a better deal.

TOD:

My dad and I were HUGE Columbo fans.  My particular favorite episode starred Ruth Gordon as the murderess.

I generally enjoyed most of the shows in the NBC Mystery Movie rotation--MacMillian and Wife, McCloud, Hec Ramsey and The Snoop Sisters (which has been available on DVD for some time now but is way overpriced IMHO.)

Dan (the man), it is great to see you back!

Thank George.  I have to try them on for the fit, plus I need them before I swim on Friday.  I called Bi-Mart in Ashland & they have some.  They guy who helped me also said the Y sells them.  I called the Y & they keep them in a drawer behind the front desk.  Too bad they did have a sign about this at the pool.

When I called the Y I asked about the extra chlorine & she said sometimes they have to shock the pool.  If the goggles don't work (I've never been able to tolerate them in the past, but then I've never been this motivated to use them) I inquire more about the water treatment.

I was just going to say that a lot of pools/gyms with pools sell them.

I don't love the feel of goggles. But i would never swim without them. Even if the chlorine didn't bother me (which it does) i still like to be able to see underwater. I love goggles. And definitely try them on first. I've tried some before and they were not a good shape. And water seaped in. Not good!

Jennifer my concern is I will not be able to see without my glasses & trip walking around the pool.  I've always been able to swim with my eyes open & do so which is why they are hurting so much now.  Extra water splashed into my eyes while I was in the hot whirpool after my swim.

Do you have any brand suggestions, good or bad?

Didn't Christmas Day used to be the day when Hollywood premiered their class films, their epics, their Oscar contenders?  So, why are they opening a film called THE DARKEST HOUR, with an all-star cast of Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor?

I don't get it.
