Well, you've read the notes, the notes were lazy and in a dickie, and now it is time for you to post until the leopard-spotted cows come home.

Finally mamaged to pass on the parcel to my neighbour. I called early this morning and a woman answered the door. I didn't know there was a couple living there - I'd never seen her before but she took the parcel and, like the man, she didn't seem to speak English. Why neither of them called on me for the  parcel is baffling but maybe they come from the sort of country where they only feel safe indoors.

TOD:

I enjoyed Columbo when I watched it, but I was never a big fan of the show.

My favorite detective (or cop) shows lean toward the more gritty: NYPD Blue and the Law & Order franchise.

I also like Blue Bloods.

TOD: My favorite "Columbo" featured Ida Lupino as a fading star who kills her husband but doesn't remember doing it. It was a "Sunset Blvd." ripoff, but she was wonderful in it. I even remember the movie she watched over and over again. It was a musical called "Walking My Baby Back Home."

I like the episode where the killer got away with it.

Janet Leigh and John Payne were the guest stars. There were clips from (I think) Walking My Baby Back Home (or was that the song they were using?)

Part of my problem with TV detective shows is that nine out of ten times, I can spot the killer as soon as he makes his first entrance.

It's usually either:

1. The "name" guest star whose role, initially, seems to be a nothing part.  Then, at the end, he gets his big revelation scene.

or

2. The son, brother, cousin or friend who is hanging around the victim's wife/husband, who doesn't seem to have any real purpose for being there except to console.  Why would the producers be paying this actor if he/she wasn't going to be revealed later as the killer?

I know that my method has nothing to do with good storytelling.  It has to do with the economics of Hollywood, particularly television.

Good morning, all! I think I slept well, although I have memories that my dad was in one of last night's dreams, something about a parking lot, a huge truck, and the Macbeths.

Speaking of them, I was snooping on Facebook and found that Lady M has begun a webpage for their band "The Geriatric Bluegrass Group" (not the real name; it's vainly called "The Lady M Band). I debated leaving rude messages and decided not to.

Today, I need to place a few calls about delivering these Herbert CDs to the Cole Porter Trust and other locales, and I can begin the Act Two vocal scre for DEAREST ENEMY.

More coffee!

DR JMK - your link to the news report yesterday was most excellent!

I hope DR JANE is feeling better.

LOL....when Mr Jason looked in his empty book yesterday - I thought of Katharine Hepburn in DESK SET when Gig Young FINALLY asks her to company dance....and she says:  "I'd better write that down."  And Gig says: "Yes, you'd better."  And Katharine gives him one of the funniest reactions EVER....

I love that MOVIE!!!!!

The meeting was okay....we also had treats afterwards....and I was chosen to direct THE CURIOUS SAVAGE, which is one of my favorite plays......so we shall see how THAT turns out.

It will be in July.

I do not like Columbo.

But I do like The Snoop Sisters, Mike Hammer, and Barnaby Jones....although quality varies from episode to episode of each of them.

TOD:

My dad and I were HUGE Columbo fans.  My particular favorite episode starred Ruth Gordon as the murderess.

I generally enjoyed most of the shows in the NBC Mystery Movie rotation--MacMillian and Wife, McCloud, Hec Ramsey and The Snoop Sisters (which has been available on DVD for some time now but is way overpriced IMHO.)

Does anyone remember Mrs Columbo?  I recall that show being pretty much a stinker.

That and the fact that they're part of an international sleeper cell.   :P

I was actually a little disappointed with who went home on TAR last night.  I have found them to be uniquely positive and decent competitors, if a bit too religious for my own personal taste.  I really can't stand Ernie and Cindy, but maybe that's just because Cindy always looks like she's just sucked down a few dozen lemons.

TOD - one of my distinct college memories, especially junior year, is watching MANNIX with my roommate and her boyfriend on Saturday evenings after Michigan football games.

Richard and I have lined up our Monday vicar's-day-off date:  we're going to Bed Bath & Beyond to check out a new coffee maker, to Bath & Body Works for me to buy stuff to donate to a gift drive for Montgomery County foster kids, and to see the movie HUGO, which we heard reviewed very positively yesterday.  Somewhere in there we'll probably grab a bite to eat somewhere.

My last "work Monday" of 2011!

I used up most of my vacation time tending to my mom at the hospital so I have only seven days left for Christmas this year.  I have no idea how i'm going to get anything done.
