I just received an email with the subject:  Meet Big Beautiful Women Online.

Why would I need to do that when I can simply drive to the Wal-mart?  :)

I was out and about early running errands. I'm now listening to Songs from the Shows on BBC Radio Tees with the lovely Alex (a woman) Hall.

I have just placed a request for Musical Comedy in America from my library. It will be sent from the Lincoln Center Library to Jefferson Market so I can walk over and pick it up.

Mr. Moore, you're quite an influence on those of us who read.

Oh wow DR Cillaliz, just reading about your parents now.  That was lucky that your dad was there and that he knew what to do. Your parents should be proud that they were able to handle things so well. I'm sure many people their age would panic and not know what to do.  Hope they will get back home for Xmas. Glad they are okay.

JR, I have so many higher priority titles I must get to first, it may well be months before I get to THE LITTLE MERMAID.

This may be a blessing in disguise!

I got my copy of Musical Comedy in America.....way back in the 20th Century.....at a library sale.  Yes, it is a most excellent read.

Breathing a sigh of relief because I have finally turned in the last two papers of the semester. They are in God's hands now -- and the hands of the professorial review committee.

Thanks, Elmore, for tip. Will look for Cecil Smith's work. Another mind led astray, though my mind has strayed for a long time.

TOD:

Movies: The Hospital
House Calls

TV:
St. Elsewhere.

(And Ginny, I believe the first season is on DVD. I seem to recall seeing it at Costco a year or two ago.)

Seems as if Paul McCartney is joining Rod Stewart in the lineup of pop stars doing an album of standards. The short AP story said he was backed by Diana Krall and band, but didn't mention any of the songs. The album is to be called "My Valentine."

By the way, there's a very deranged video of Barbara Eden singing "Don't Tell Mama" on www.BlueGobo.com. It's a six-minute striptease from a Bob Hope variety show and her voice sounds surprisingly good. I remember she toured in "Woman on the Year,' but I don't remember her singing being that good. Maybe because the score didn't call for as good of a range as she has.

Just as long as he doesn't write another ballet (for his daughter to design the costumes for). -I seriously doubt City Ballet will be reprising "Ocean Kingdom" after it's debut earlier this season. Alas, Peter Martins' choreography was more "responsible" for the general lackluster-ness of the evening.

Well, I think I'm still dealing with a little bit of a "sleep deficit" after last week's coast-to-coast and city-to-city travels. *And I still find myself trying to compute the three-hour difference in time zones for the east coast... even though I've been back on the east coast for a full week now. OY!

What are these "books" of which you speak?

THE NATURE PRINCIPLE by Richard Louv and MUSICAL COMEDY IN AMERICA by Cecil Smith.  They will be waiting for me at the library's drive-up window tomorrow when Richard and I go downtown to purchase my Mother's Christmas present (tickets to JERSEY BOYS for the 3 of us).

That was yet another joke on my part, Ginny, as in what are "books"?  I'll just start including explanations for my hilarious humor.  :)

Well, DR JMK, remember... It's because you're a lesbian.

And...

Now I'm going to attempt to straighten up the various pieces of luggage and boxes I have here at my parents' hour, and then head out for some lunch as well as some Christmas shopping. My brothers sent out their kids' Wish Lists this morning, so the timing is perfect.

Laters...

Vixmom the cat cartoon made me laugh.  I didn't frustrate my cats as I left soft unbreakable toys at the bottom of the tree.

Got another couple of hours sleep - not quite enough but good.  Helper is on her way and we'll do Costco run - I'll either jog after that or later today, although the weather outside looks frightful.

DR John G, many professors think of themselves as gods.  In fact, at Miami's graduation ceremony the music for the marching in and out of the faculty is "For All the Saints," which I find hysterically funny.

I do, too. Especially given the next lyric of "Who from their labors rest ..."

By the way, that was the song I fixated on the last time I had to go to the hospital for a kidney stone. I could only remember the lyrics to six and half of the eight verses and, man, in between deep breaths to deal with the pain, I crafted some strange lyrics to make up for what I couldn't remember.
