Well, you've read the notes, the notes looked back and forward at the same time, and now it is time for you to post until the backwards cows come home.

TOD: It's a little early to recount all of the great things to have happened, but the standouts to my still-tired brain are being hired as a contractor for USAA (I'm hoping the job becomes permanent after the beginning of the new year), being offered a contract to write a book and then actually writing it, and finishing the first year of grad school.

There was a wonderful week in Maui and another incredible year of sharing with all of you.

La de DAH de da da!

My favorite thing about 2012 is that my sister Molly and her husband Austin moved back to Indiana from Seattle.  NOTHING can top that for me!

Poor Rex is sick. We realized we hadn't seen him in a while and Sandra found him hiding under her bed. So I'll call the vet as soon as they open.

Joshie saw me get the carrier out, and he took off like a shot.

I'm trying to access some photographs on an SD card which seems to have got corrupted. These are my sister's photos which we tried to transfer to her pc over Christmas (she's had the camera for a year but hadn't figured out how to transfer them to her computer - doh!  There are about 1400 photos and some videos. I'm using a programme which is supposed to be able to retrieve files and which I've got running at the moment. After four hours it has scanned 4% of the memory card and has found 64 files. So I suppose it will take about 100 hours to scan the complete memory card!

Good morning, all! I have to go to Toyland this morning to check on the place and use the office scanner. It's been over a week now since I've been there. I hope it's still there. With our leader, the Master Toymaker, one cannot be too sure.

2011 began badly: we finished recording 101 Victor Herbert songs in early January, and on March 3 Toyland was closed down; my four colleagues were put on hiatus, while I remained as an employee with no crew and little to accomplish without them.Worse events followed:  April 26 brought the death of my dear friend Russell Warner, a wonderful arranger who could  offer a sympathetic shoulder and make me laugh whenever things stank. He died because he needed a new heart and the irony is that Russell had the biggest heart of anyone.

Luckily, the Man from Philadelphia and his foundation rescued us, and we spent the nxt four months preparing a recording of EILEEN, which I cast and recorded in August. The two weeks of recording in Dublin in August were two of the best weeks of my life, and I miss my new Irish friends enormously.

My first recording as an executive producer was released in December, I'm preparing the next for a May 2012 release, EILEEN is nearly ready with one overdub to be recorded, and I've got a recording scheduled in Dublin for August and two scores for future recording ready for the copyists,

This was also the year in which a concert piece based on Appalachian Christmas carols went from a workshop in April to a fully staged tryout in November, and it continues to grow.

It would still be nice to win the lottery.

TOD:

Major family event was a big get-together when my brother and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. During the year there was also the arrival of another Great-nephew for me to buy presents for. Visiting Istanbul, Warsaw and Zagreb were also major highlights.

Remember, it was FF writing the wrong year on her inscription to Edith in the Golden Boy script that alerted Edith to all the impending troubles.   ;D

Having my Mom come home from her final procedure after five months of hospitalization and rehabilitation.

Otherwise, 2011 was a crappy year for me.  The sooner it's over and done with, the better...

re: the couple not wanting to change their seats DR FJL wrote:

I was sort of wondering the same thing. Of course you'd want to be respectful of the person in the wheel chair. But I really really prefer the aisle seat and would be very unhappy if i'd paid for those seats and someone asked me to move. I'm claustrophobic and it makes a big difference to me to be on the outside (although many people would prefer to be closer to the center).

I'm wondering why they couldn't just have asked any patrons with aisle seats in that area if they would move (since most probably wouldn't mind but a few people do really need the aisle seats).
