So BK did you have General Taos chicken for lunch?

I am addicted to Chinese, Mexican and Greek food!
Do you think you could put pictures of food up in the picture place?

Btw, has anyone else been going Christmas shopping crazy? And I don't even celebrate the holiday. But actually I'm not buying for myself. But for my sister's niece and nephew (from their parents).

Oh!

Nothing in my VCR or DVD player, Jeepers Creepers and the new Clay Aiken CD in my CD player.  (I don't like the Aiken CD -- they make the whole album sound like it was processed for a non-singing boy-band member).  Aiken has pipes that he doesn't use on this album

Yuck.

BK:  When it looks like he's waning in popularity, do an album of B'way tunes with him.  It might be THE commercial event of whatever year it happens.

Sadly, Jed, I have had many people think they are giving me a compliment by telling me I look like Captain Kangaroo.  So far, you are the only one still living.

Lyrics keep running through my head:

Up, down
Flying around
Looping the loop
And defying the ground!

They're
All
Frightfully keen
Those Magnificent Men
Those Magnificent men
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines.

TCB - For me it's just that pic that gives you the C.K. look.  I think it's the tie.  And thanks for letting me live...for now...  :)

A tree that will give you a sign
Come along with me
To the Sweetheart Tree
Come and carve your name next to mine.

If you're feeling fancy free
Come wander through the world with me
And every place you chance to be
Will be a lovely place

Two For the Road
We'll travel down the years
Collecting special memories

Collecting souvenirs
And living life
The way we please.

In summertime the sun will shine
In winter we'll drink summer wine
And every day that you are mine
Will be a lovely day

As long as love still wears a smile
I know that we'll be Two For the Road
And that's a long, long while

(or something close to that).

Geez, guess I'm on a mostly Mancini kick.

Goodness, what a lot of posts to come home to!
TCB, congrats on the Fagin role.  I might have to come and check out that production.  Tacoma isn't that far away from Gig Harbor, after all.  My father played Fagin a few years ago in a community theater.  I, of course, will be catching DR Jed in Christmas Carol in Leavenworth.
And while I'm on the subject of A Chirstmas Carol, I have a question for the group at large.  Years and years ago, when I was but a sprig of a girl, my family went to see a play which I believe was called Inspecting Carol.  A spoof of A Christmas Carol, I believe it was.  Even at a young age I found it hilarious, and I'd love to know who wrote the thing.  Anyone of our brilliant readers have a clue what I'm talking about??  ::)

For those of you who have interest in such matters:

Tonight is the official opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.  Designed by Frank Gehry, it is destined to become as identifiable a landmark of L.A. as the opera house is for Sydney, the Eiffel Tower for Paris, the Empire State Building for New York City, etc.

The opening of the hall is being marked by three gala concerts.

Tonight's program is more or less in the traditional classical vein.  Tomorrow night will be primarily newer "classical" (that's a bit of an oxymoron) music.  And Saturday night's concert will consist primarily of music from film.  There will be vocal selections, too, featuring Miss Audra MacDonald and Mr. Brian Stokes Mitchell.

All three concerts can be heard over the internet at http://www.kcrw.org/ at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

mmmm food...good topic! I'm about to have dinner  :) Can I get a Hoo and Ray?

My faves:
Italian: almost anything, especially my grandma's veal parmesan, cavatelli, and chicken marsala
Chinese: beef with mixed vegetables and fried wontons
Japanese: steak and miso soup...I'm having
Japanese on Saturday! I'm so happy!
American: cheeseburger and French fries
French: I LOVE this crępe place in Philly (Beau Monde)! other than that, I haven't had that much French food.
I'll be happy with just about anything, especially filet mignon and mashed potatoes from the Pub in Jersey--no seafood though!

Is it seemly to be invited to "go down" at the top of each of these community forum pages? ;)

DR JRand--

What is the history of 1757 N. Orange Grove Drive in lovely Hollywood, California?  I sometimes am in that part of town.  If you like, I can make it a point of passing by.  But I need, as they say, motivation.

DR Jay - thanks for asking.  It is the one-time home of the lovely Miss Allison Hayes.  Would love to have a photo of the house if you are ever down that way!  Thanks so much.

What a lot of lovely posts.  Almost time for Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.  Television's own What's Up, Tiger Lily?

I earned the ability to give Karma before leaving work (I'm under a different log-on at home and have only a handful of posts).  I karmaed many people before I left...double-karmaed a couple for the heck of it ('cause they DESERVED IT for being so calm over the past two days in dealing with our "issues").

And what the heck!  You all have pizazz and charisma...why SHOULDN'T you get a little karma at the outset just to make things shine!

Ron, why is it that you feel the need for more than one screen name? I didn't realize you had registered more than one. I'd like to respectfully request that you choose one or the other. There is nothing stopping you from using one screen name from work and home. Keeping each member to just one screen name allows us to better monitor the site and keep it running smoothly.

You can let me know by IM, if you'd like, which of the two you'd like to keep unless you'd like to delete one or the other yourself by pressing the delete member button at the bottom of your profile.

In addition, there is no such thing as "double karma." You have the ability to give someone karma once per three days. Any more than that and the additional karma's won't apply.
