You can give or take karma to every member on the board.   You just can't give karma to a specific member if you've already modified their karma rating within the past 72 hours. :)

So I can give karma to whomever I choose, since I have thusfar modified nobody's karma.

Just one problem. I can't figure out how to do it :)

And yes Mark I am at the tech board now trying to figure it out.

Oh how cute. Once you get to 25 posts, beside each person's post it says "boo or applaud".

I have a question I will post on the other board.

Next to every members posts, for you since you now have the ability to modify karma, are two new links: applaud and boo. Click one of those links to add or subtract karma and you're done!

DR Laura II--

So who's the dude in the picture with you?

P.S.  I adore polka-dot sundresses.  You look divine!

Jay, you made my day! Thank you so much for the compliment!!!!  :D The "dude" in the picture is Josh Hartnett. I met him the day after my birthday. I'm not fond of his movies (I don't think I'll ever be desperate enough to see Hollywood Homicide), but I find him quite nice to look at.  ;) Also, that is the only picture I have of myself on the computer. I don't have a scanner, but my uncle does, and I got the roll with this picture developed when I was at his place. Again, thank you so much!

Nothing like whores, thieves, drunks, and murder to put people in the mood for the holidays.

You talking about a play or the family dinner on Christmas day?

LOL...you know, it does sound exactly like my family!!

Just as a little test I timed how long it took for me to do the three clicks - I went to the end of the notes, clicked, clicked again on Daily Discussions, and clicked again on the current day's notes - total time: 17 seconds.  I do realize this will vary from computer to computer, but I'd be for most it would be that.   Therefore, it doesn't take any significant time to get to the posts - once there, it doesn't take any longer to read them than it did the old way - to read is to read, no matter where the posts are or how they look.  And, once you've read the notes and come for the first time, you can then direct link here and since you have the ability to go right to the last of the posts, my guess that makes it even faster.

Wasn't that informative?  After all your wonderful food choices where did I eat?  MacDonald's.  I was driving by and I just suddenly had a craving.  What can you do?

Not to be catty or anything...

I'm listening to the red carpet arrivals at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on KCRW and they just interviewed.......

Miss Liza Minelli.

My dears, the poor girl is slurring her words.  A lot.  A lot a lot.

I timed it on my computer. I went to haineshisway.com, didn't read anything, quickly clicked on box one, then box two, then today's forum, then screen 7. It took my computer 1 minute 20 seconds. And truthfully this is by far the fastest it's ever done. Usually it's taken MUCH longer than that.

Btw, I feel like an idiot. I thought that you could only give karma everytime you got to 25 posts. I didn't realize that at 25 posts you have the ability to give karma anytime you want (as long as it is not to the same peson within 3 days).

Btw, I like the new board. So don't see what I'm saying as complaining. I'm just trying to explain what others have said.  The reason why it takes longer to read the posts is because they are so spread out (which is why I really like reading them when they are all squished together when I post).  For me, my computer takes a while to load to the next page.  And it takes longer to refresh.

But I love all the features.

Btw, has anyone been using the IM emailing features?

Congratulations to Mr BK, Mr Mark Bakalor, and Russell for getting us through two days.

The learning curve was steep - but we have made it!  BUT where is DR Jose?

Two Karma Points??!!!

I like the karma thing. But has anyone thought of what might happen if people start to subtract karma points?

I feel like an overly emotional girl. But it would make me very sad.

Anyhow, I'm leaving my computer now. Good night to all.

Yes, Mark, I no longer have a flattop, thank goodness!  And I managed to get that blue dye out, finally...

Jennifer, I got an IM from Dan-in-Toronto, who is having trouble with navigating the new board, but is working on the problem.

For DR Joy: How could he IM you on here if he can't navigate this site?  Isn't IMing one of the more elaborate features.

Btw, has anyone else checked out the calendar. OMG, it has our birthdays listed. But even worse, it says how old we are turning.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Good evening everyone!!![/move]

I realize that I said I was going to avoid all these moving coloured fonts... but danggit they are simply too tempting!  :)

Joy: Your "special" happy faces are absolutely fabulous

Jennifer: Oooh!  Ooh!  I want Karma!  As your compatriot I DESERVE your karma!

BK/Mr. Bakalor: I think the booing could get really mean... do you think it's possible to remove the ability to take away karma points from the readers?

I have returned from my religious studies potluck.  It was okay but only about 20 people showed up - all of whom were graduate students or Bachelors of Theology and NOT the Department Undergrads for whom we were targetting the event.  Oh well.  Maybe we should hire Craig to do publicity for us? ;)

As for the corruption of the furture ministers, I was only able to talk to one even remotely normal guy.  Then I found out he was from Saskatchewan.  When I told him I worked for a Gun Control group he completely flipped out and basically started debating the subject very loudly.  At a Religious Studies Potluck.  In front of professors.  I made my points tactfully and ran.

Why is it that the only people who find deign to talk to me at these events invariably turn out to belong to one of the following groups:

1) homeless men
2) gun nuts
3) guys with girlfriends
4) creepoes
5) reeaaallly pretentious grad students

I have awful luck in attracting members of the opposite sex.  :(

I would like to give DR TCB a Karma point for being the only one who got my earlier posting of food choices and Oliver! I feel so much better now. Sometime I think on a different plane. (A Fantasy Island and/or a My Fair Lady reference and yes I know that is a different plain. But it is a homonym [sp?] so imagine if I was voicing it.)
