I agree, there's usually at least something in any given La Chiusa that's excellent.  For me, it's just wading through all the other stuff to get there that's the issue.  :)  I have a ton of his recordings and must admit I rarely listen to any of them.

Yes, one could do a highlights disk and have room left over. Sadly. I still keep hoping something like "Giant" will move him to a new level. And I hear "Queen of the Mist" is his best score yet.

This is quite entertaining and informative:

Dubbing Through the Decades

What a fantastic compilation!

Wow!  I'll say!  There were a few shockers in there for me.

Epiphany morning greetings!  While I know this is a significant day in the liturgical calendar, what I'm celebrating is the fact that I can now begin packing away the Christmas decor - well, tomorrow, anyway.

I'll be doing the same, DR Ginny.  At least it all gets put away quicker than it took to put out.

By the time I got either of the WILD PARTY recordings, the reviews had long been out and dismissive of both scores.  I recall it was chore to listen to them.  Haven't heard either one since.

I'm up, I've listened to the presentation on a very bad phone, gave a LOT of notes, did some rearranging and will finesse patter this evening with the East Coast singer.

I kind of like the Lippa, at least relatively speaking.

JR, perhaps someone posted about this and I missed it, but are you aware of this?  The Variety review wasn't exactly a rave.   ::)

Great Filichia on Friday. Loved the notes on Hugh Martin. Got that recording for Christmas. And the Sondheim came in the mail yesterday.

Elmore, you saw "The Road to Qatar" and know Stephen Cole. What do you think of that score?

It was cute and very silly. I had a good time. I saw a workshop and then the York production, which had some big revisions. My memory is that the score was as funny as the show and I enjoyed it.

I am home from Encores! I am coming down with a terrible cold, so I hope prventative measures are not too late.

DR elmore - If you're still here, did you catch my question yesterday about the Merrily orchestrations?

My lips are sealed.

BK, re: your whole Apple misadventure yesterday.

The worst part is the incompetency of the person you called and the supervisor. I think your "guy" and the guy who sold the computer to you sound right on top of things.

Maybe you should consider it.

Caveat:  The average net income from writing of theatre lyricists in the United States is something like negative $565, so it's a growth industry.

I wonder if a negative income could be called an outcome.

Good Afternoon!

Well, it took me a little while to get going, but once I did...

I managed to sort all of my clothes, and set aside one box to ship back to NYC. I will work on getting another box put together over the next 48 hours or so.

I also managed to sort through a "box of stuff" that had accumulated over the past six months - a.k.a. since the start of Oklahoma! - and it was quite liberating to throw away and/or recycle extra copies of various Playbills, program stuffers, restaurant receipts, restaurant business cards(!), restaurant carry-out menus(!!), travel itineraries (I always print out two extra copies: one to place in my carry-on and one for my checked bag),magazines, Amazon packing lists, etc., etc., etc. So, instead of carting back a 16"x16"x10" box of papers, all I have to deal with now is less than half a shoebox full of them. Whew! and Yeah!

I also realized that I don't have to ship my clothes back today. I can fit more than enough in my suitcases to last me for at least three weeks back in NYC. I can just take my time boxing things up Sunday night, and then arrange for a UPS pick-up on Monday.
