I went to the Top of the Prudential Center.  It's really great.  They have a little film on the history of Boston and other exhibits about Immigration.  It was a clear day to I could almost see "forever."

I somehow lost the first episode of the second season of Downton Abbey on my DVR, so i haven't seen any of the season 2 episodes yet.  I tried to watch on PBS but the site said I needed to install something--I think it was a "flash player."  I wasn't sure if I should do that or not.

Greetings from Boston, Mass!

I used to enjoy trips into Boston when we lived in Acton, Mass.  That was about 30 years ago.

BK--I saw your message about not coming to Washington.  Too bad-I thought maybe I could have met you for lunch one of the days!

Are you familiar with Waltham, DR Jane?  That's where I'm going tomorrow.  I think I'm taking a commuter train-I'm trying to avoid renting a car.

I'm seeing Rachel York at the Reagle Theatre.   I think there's another singer appearing with her--can't remember the name.

I don't know when we will receive the first disc from NetFlix.  Apparently it is a very long wait to get this & they aren't exaggerating.  Same goes for Moneyball & The Help.

I did finally see The Help, which I enjoyed.  I got it from a "redbox."  It's now $1.20 a night (up from $1)--quite a bargain.

Maybe we will see what our local redbox has this weekend.  We only have one DVD here from NetFlix & they won't be mailing anything again until Tuesday.

I currently have Moneyball from the library. Will watch it in the next few days.

I have seen several productions of POTO (granted, I haven't yet seen the 25th Anniversary version); but I still believe that the finest production around is the Las Vegas PHANTOM at The Venetian.  Unfortunately, that production will close on September 2.  I must admit that having the WSMA playing the Phantom may have colored by opinion slightly.  Still, the fact that the show was trimmed to a 92 minute running time (with no intermission) by ALW, himself, helped eliminate a lot of the problems i have always had with the show.  Too many verses of too many songs!  "Masquerade" must have 20 verses during the normal show, but it moves very swiftly in the Las Vegas version.  I am hoping I can go back and see PHANTOM in Las Vegas one last time before it closes.

Of course I have to agree, TCB!  In the original production, the auction drags on and on and as you mentioned, Masquerade is too long.  I'd like to see the Vegas version again too.  It'd be interesting to see Anthony Crivello in the role he's been doing for 6 years!

I was in outer space long before John Glenn.

Actually Alan Shepard was the first American in outer space on May 5, 1961.  John Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth.

I saw a Vera Bradley store at the Prudential Center mall.  And then I saw Vera Bradley merchandise at Barnes and Noble.  Of course I thought of DR Ginny.  I have to say I don't ever remember hearing the name before I read DR Ginny's posts.  Now I seem to see it everywhere!

For the first time I went online to see what DVD's our library has.  They have THE HELP but not MONEYBALL.  For us a trip to the library isn't all that convenient while NetFlix in the mailbox is.  There is a redbox on our end of town but we never use it.

Barnes & Noble, that surprises me.  Vera Bradley seems to be more popular every day so more places are selling it.

I received an e-mail from Amazon.com telling me that as a Prime Member,  I can borrow one book per month for my Kindle.  I read over all the details and the fine print, but I must confess that this portion of the rules has me baffled.

The book currently being borrowed can be read on multiple Kindle devices, as long as they are registered to the same eligible account, but cannot be read on Kindle reading apps.
