Well, you've read the notes, you've had a spring awakening, and now it is time for you to post until the spring cows awaken and come home.

Good morning, all! Two dreams last night, the first of which I cannot remember now, and a second in which I was appearing on Broadway in a production of LaBiche's ITALIAN STRAW HAT.

This morning, first thing, is laundry. When it's finishede, I will bathe and see my doctor for a follow-up from the ER visit. After that, I'm back here for more work on DEAREST ENEMY and ROBERTA. Yesterday, the Dublin boys sent me a suggestion for a young man in the cast that would be fantastic if we could get him. Fingers crossed.

DR Danise, I'm sorry about the job transfer, but we're lucky we have work these days. It will all work out.

BK, how was your friend in SPRING AWAKENING?

TOD:
DVD: two Netflix are arriving in today's mail, there are several operas sitting here as well
CD: ONCE, several Irish groups, DEAREST ENEMY ootlegbays from Goodspeed and Villiage Light Opera, Guy Haines
  VCR:  silly shorts

I saw the original Spring Awakening on Broadway. Reminded me a little too much of the pain of having to read "The Sorrows of Young Werther" in college, as if being told by someone that I was supposed to like the show. I did like the Bill T. Jones choreography very much.

But what I remember best was seeing John Kander at intermission. The theater was across the street from where "Chicago" is playing, and he went to the sidewalk to see if he could check on the size of the audience that Sunday evening. (I think their show started an hour or so after ours.)

I also remember seeing Joan Rivers wrapped in mink and noting how grotesque her facelifts had made her look in person.

Yoday is supposed to be the last warmish day before colder temps return. It was nice while it lasted. Although it is only supposed to be low 60 today. I do not even want to think of the temps they have predicted for next week.

I've finished the laundry and I am bathed and ready for my 11:30 appointment. I've got some notes on the Act Three reprise of "Bye and Bye" to write up, and that's my morning.

Another cool morning and just gorgeous outside. I wish I could sit out there for a while with a cup of tea and a good book.

The woman who has the desk next to my new one is retiring today (I swear I had nothing to do with it). Her immediate goal is to do nothing but get up in the morning, sit out back of her house and read the paper.

TOD

DVD - "The Devils" First DVD release from the British Film Institute from a splendid master prepared by Warner Bros (looks as if Warner Bros would rather disown the film than put it out on their own label).

Blu - "The Lavender Hill Mob"

CD - "The Fall of the Roman Empire" excellent presentation of the original tracks from La La Land Records.

BK:  Seeing "Those Calloways"....is this the Disney film on DVD or a stage production?  If the latter, is it a musical?

LOVE the movie...it's gorgeous visually, and the Steiner score is wunnerful wunnerful!

TOD:  Just finished watching "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (glorious, given that it wasn't a remaster of the film but a "best-available" print source).  Sound is spectacular and it's SO much fun!

Favorite line:  Claudius:  "What men won't do under the inspiration of their beliefs!"

On deck:  Tons of CDs need listening to.  Lots of BDs in a pile, including "Bite the Bullet" which is likely to be the next one I watch.

Enjoyed the new Filichia on Friday. "Pipe Dream" is such an oddity. I can't get into the cast album, no matter how hard I try and only enjoyed the libretto fitfully, as I recall. (I read it back in college.) But I'm wondering if a new book, one closer to Steinbeck's original, would work.

I was also a big fan of the Nick Nolte-Debra Winger movie.

Friday morning greetings!  Rain is moving into SW Ohio, bringing in some cooler weather.  My Mom is taking Richard and me and Rob and Mary Linda to dinner tonight to celebrate our January wedding anniversary.  Before that I must get myself to the post office to get a small package off to Tacoma, WA!
