I first listened to the OBC of SPRING AWAKENING on a car trip north to Tacoma, where I had been hired by THE SONDHEIM REVIEW to do a quick write up on a Tacoma Symphony Bernstein-Sondheim concert.  IIRC, I met Jed, Ann and Tom (but not George, I seem to think) at a sweet little downtown restaurant before the show.  George, were you there?  Maybe you were and I'm having Half-heimers.

I was there...how soon they forget! :'(

:D

Sorry, I'm old.  And also, sorry I'm old.   ;D

Things are fine with the MD, I understand. I wait for blood test results,  and other appointments have been set up.

When I first started reading this, I was thinking that MD was a Music Director, but then you wrote about blood and other appointments and I realized...well, nevermind.

Their soon-to-be-released London cast recording will be the only one-disc original Sweeney recording (the OBC highlights doesn't count).  What are they leaving off??

Nice the boys are have such a good time, not that I expected less now they are your boys.  Nice pics too.

If we were relly good parents, we'd take the blonds down today - with the temps in the mid-70s and a clear sky, the beach/boardwalk will probably be mobbed.

BK:  Seeing "Those Calloways"....is this the Disney film on DVD or a stage production?  If the latter, is it a musical?

LOVE the movie...it's gorgeous visually, and the Steiner score is wunnerful wunnerful!

Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway are Those. Callaways :)

LOL!  Nice play on words/titles!!!

Hmm, looks like I'm only friends with a few of them.  I often see your name as a mutual friend for people I know but am not "friends" with.  I'll have to pay more attention when it happens.  For now I only found 3 people & I think I asked you (can't remember the response) about 1 or 2 of them.

If you didn't have so many friends I could look at your list.  Do you really know all of these people ;)

DougR, I was also listening to TFOTRE this morning.  I have the two previous CD releases, but I think this one sounds quite a bit better.

Yes I think the previous ones sounded a bit "muddy".

I've been doing something similar the past couple of days, DR George.  Since meeting Ree Drummond the other night, I've been paying more attention to her website, Facebook page, and Twitter feeds.  She's often referred to as "PW" (Pioneer Woman), which (as you probably know) in my world means Publishers Weekly.

FJL, I didn't know there was a Susan Boyle musical in the works. You know more than I do right now.

I'll ask my friends at Radio Wales and Radio Tees and see if they have any information.

This morning, first thing, is laundry. When it's finishede, I will bathe and see my doctor for a follow-up from the ER visit. After that, I'm back here for more work on DEAREST ENEMY and ROBERTA. Yesterday, the Dublin boys sent me a suggestion for a young man in the cast that would be fantastic if we could get him. Fingers crossed.

;D

Double crossed. Well, no, not that.  Just a single cross to bear. No, not that, either.  ;)

But best wishes.

Reviews are in for last night's midnight showing of HUNGER GAMES:

Betsy: 4.5
Zach:  3.5
I am assuming this is out of 5? Has Zach read the book? I am very curious to know how people who did not read the book feel about the movie. Everyone I know who went last night has read the book. Some loved it. A few were disappointed.

From Zack's reaction I think I would rather read HUNGER GAMES than see it.  Since I'm sure we will eventually watch the movie I'll skip the book then, at least until after I have seen the movie.
Dr Jane you must read the book. Interesting that you say you would wait to read the book till AFTER seeing the movie. Every other avid reader I know desperately wanted to read the book before seeing the movie. I would always rather read the book first.

Jennifer:

Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) has had many leading roles in movies
Kicking & Screaming (2005), Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), RV (2006), Bridge to Terabithia (2007), and Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008).The Kids Are All Right (2010),

I expect he'll do a bang-up job in Hunger Games.

der Brucer

I know he has done other movies. But he physically does not look right for me. Peeta is such a vital role. Although many people i know who saw the movie said he was very good. I really hope so.

Interesting.

Part of this is because Zach hasn't that many films made from books he's read.  Also, he has an issue with motion sickness, and the film is evidently full of that oh-so-popular jiggly handheld crap and it bothered him.
I have heard a few people mention the shaky cam. I suspect this will bother me too since I really dislike this. It is very hard to make a great book into a great movie. They have to change things and leave things out. I am hopeful they did a good job with this movie.

I love that VistaVision "extension" of the soaring strings in the mid-50's Paramount releases.

Me too. Great fanfare from Nathan Van Cleave. I like the way it segues into the title music, as did Steiner's WB fanfare.

Granting a "seal of approval" is not granting rights, nor are there producers trying to bring it in.  For now, pure gossip column as per usual from that UK guy.  He's almost worse than Liz Smith.  Will it come?  Doubtful, but who knows.
