Bob Cole, who wrote A Trip to Coontown back in 1898, the first musical written by, starring and staged by blacks in the U.S. He revolutionized the way blacks could be presented on stage and he always appeared in the most elegant of tuxedos, which was most definitely not the style back then and could have gotten him lynched.
It just got a little heavy thinking about that in light of Geraldo Rivera's accusation that Trayvan Martin was killed because he was wearing a hoodie. Even if it's not true, the idea is where the danger is. And it's depressing.
