I'm up after nine glorious hours of glorious sleep.  With VERY weird dreams, one of them a recurring dream.

I'm halfway through the violas, so I guess it's another all-day affair at Toyland. The 10th floor  is very warm, so I can only imagine the heat outside. I'm content here in the AC.

Our long afternoon at the airport just got longer because our flight is delayed 45 minutes.

Sure, today is National Burger Day, so naturally I am having hot dogs.

According to the handy-dandy Reagan National dining and shopping guide, there's a Five Guys right next to our gate.  Maybe we'll be really decadent and have lunch there!

What is a Five Guys?

It's the burger chain made famous by President Obama.  I had a small cheeseburger with tomatoes, green peppers, and grilled mushrooms.  And my first French fries in months.  My last vacation splurge...

I love Vick's Inhalers. In fact I've got one with me now in Kiev, just in case I can't breathe properly!

Kiev?  Is that where the chicken comes from?

I've checked out various restaurant menus but haven't seen chicken kiev yet - I was looking forward to trying it out. Of course, not being able to read the menus doesn't help!

The backdoor cat, who belongs to the backdoor neighbors but prefers me, is a hunter and I've regularly seen clumps of feathers in the yard. But he has never been one to bring offerings to me. Until today. He left a dead rat by the back door. Charming sight to wake up to.

How can you be so ungrateful after all the hard work backdoor cat has done in bringing you a treat  ;D

TOD:

A few weeks ago I was in the coffee shop and next to me were two business men discussing the personalities of people they had just attended a meeting with. I don't recall names so I'm using X and Y. One said to the another "So what color would you say Mr X was?" The other one replied "I'd say he was Red". "And what colour was Mr Y?" The other replied "I think mainly Blue with Red elements".  The response was, "Absolutely right! Brilliant analysis"!

From DR John G:
Quote
I got my nook last week and haven't really had time to read anything on it. But I tried to check something out of the library. They have plenty of books marked [electronic resource], but only about 30 of those are nook compatible. Of those, five are volumes of Proust, and even those were checked out!

So, I'm on a wait list for a book about pizza.

I'm surprised you don't have more Nook friendly books.  Our library only had Adobe EPUB eBook and have just recently added Kindle & another option.

Aside from the library issue are you happy with the Nook?  Did you get the original, color, or tablet?

DR Jennifer I've been told the eBook library is for the entire state of Oregon.

On the hold list, under my queue listing, is the following:
*Waiting list may be shorter for your library.  Which I suppose explains why some books come in much earlier than I expect them to.

I also check my wish list on a regular basis and watch for books that become available.

I have gotten more stuff that I want to read off Gutenberg than I have from Barnes and Noble so far.

It's a great site.  Sometimes the formatting on those books can be a bit screwy.

And along with the dog mess, the gasket around the hole in our front loader washing machine popped out and so did the water.  The DP's mom caught it, and we fixed the problem together.  I'm ready to go back to bed, or at least have a drink.  But alas, I make my drumming debut this eve.  Oy and vey... I will need that drink later.

DR JohnG re: the nook sites that offer free/cheap ereads on FACEBOOK

DR jane might know better. But the ones i know are:

https://www.facebook.com/#!/CheapeReads

https://www.facebook.com/#!/NookGuy

https://www.facebook.com/#!/NkLov

Nook Free Friday's: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/The-NOOK-Blog/bg-p/Unbound/label-name/free%20fridays
I don't get much off of it anymore.  It is still good a day or two later.  DR Cilla do you still download the books?  I found I didn't like most of them.

I only had saved the Nook Guy but decided to add CheapeReads.  Your last link doesn't work.

Memorial Day greetings from Washington's Reagan National Airport!  Because a) check out time at the hotel was noon and b) it's hot and muggy here in DC, we just headed for the airport and checked in for our 5pm flight.  We're enjoying the air conditioning, the view of the Potomac, and the passing scene.

I've only been at the Dulles airport.  I didn't know the National had a nice view while waiting.

TOD - it's hard to top last week's "All the porn stars are going to be there!" that we over heard in Bryant Park, but I just heard a guy on his cell phone say, "Hi, we're at Dulles."  I don't think so...

;D  I hope it was only a slip of the tongue.

And, now, our 5pm flight to Dayton has been cancelled, so we're leaving here at 7pm and will go by way of Charlotte, NC.  We're now due into Dayton at 11:30   :P
