Well, you've read the notes, the notes were energized and hopped around, and now it is time for you to post until the energized cows come home.

Well, last night I went with some friends to Tacoma to see a production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with some friends...in the show.  Guess who was also in the show...our very own Jed!  He played one of the Proteans and was quite good.  I really liked the show overall, but a couple of the actors weren't quite right.  The show was in the round (which was actually square) and although the staging was a bit too frenetic (lots of movement and some heavy breathing...not the good kind ;)), I thought that it was well done.

Today, I'll be gone all day with ushering and concessioning for a local dance group's end-of-year performances.  I hope that I'll have enough time in between the performances to get something to eat.

Have a good day, all!

So sorry to hear about the basement, Deb.

Yes, it poured in New York City as well which helped to break the temperatures but no flooding in the city.

I might break tradition and have a bagel for breakfast. I can have oatmeal anytime, including for dinner but a bagel is calling my name.

Our upstairs neighbor gave us some bagels, that's why it's become imperative to possibly eat one, otherwise they might get stale and I wouldn't want that to happen.

Last night we watched On the Avenue (starring Dick Powell, Madeleine Carroll, and Alice Faye and the Ritz Brothers). It was a nice 90 minutes. It was an early Alice Faye so she wasn't the star and she even purposely caused some trouble for Dick Powell. I must say, I had never seen the Ritz Brothers before and, for me, the act tires quickly. Some of it was cute but the bits were too long and not terribly funny. We watched a deleted clip as well and it's clear why it was cut.

We have the last episode of the new season of Doc Martin plus the second movie of Doc Martin before it became a series.

I'm off to the Greenmarket for a few things and then whatever happens during the day.

Vibes to dear Deb and the flooded basement.

Some great Irving Berlin songs in that one. Love "Slumming at Park Avenue" in particular. But I agree on the Ritz Bros.

Off on a day of visiting wineries up in the Hill Country and who knows what else. (Any excuse not to clean house.)

TOD: Best pasta dish was a lasagna I had recently in Italy. It came out looking like an omelet, about 3/4 of in inch high, and yet it was seven or eight layers of freshly rolled deeply golden yellow pasta with fresh porcini mushrooms and butter in between each layer. No one flavor dominated the other and yet the effect of those few ingredients was my idea of heaven.

I won't eat pasta in the U.S. anymore. Nothing could taste like that. And it's all for the best since pasta is one of the big no-no's on a diabetic diet.

Good morning, all! I've been up since 7 but it took me over 90 minutes to determine and book my flights to and from Dublin.  My options were US Air, Delta, and Aer Lingus, and after setting up all three and looking at seat availability, I booked the flights with Aer Lingus. I'm not crazy about JFK, but I'm stuck with it.

Now, I will run to Staples and pick up the 10 vocal books before I grab a taxi and head to Toyland. That's essentially my day. I will check in from there.

Good morning, all.

May all of our Saturdays be energized.  Yesterday was definitely "off".  Nothing to put one's finger on, planets and stars out of alignment or something.  Has the heat wave sufficiently broken?  I shall find out forthwith, when I go downstairs for more coffee, by opening a door and stepping outside for a moment.

Very sorry to hear about Vixmom's flooding.  Yet another homeowner nightmare.

Saturday morning greetings!  Yesterday was full of errands and, by the time Richard and I got home at 9:15, I was too tired even to turn the computer on.  Today is much quieter and this evening we're going with my Mom and Rob and Mary Linda to Dayton's Amber Rose for our belated Father's Day celebration.

Meant to say this before, but I like DR Ginny's practice of not going out to celebrate these days on the actual day.  That makes total sense, and, I think, should make the occasions all the nicer.

Thanks, DR ChasSmith.  This has worked well for us for many years.  The nice restaurants are so crowded on Mother's Day and Father's Day that it's not really enjoyable.

Not to mention, you're probably getting better service and food, too, since so many places turn into assembly lines on those days.
