We aren't exactly moving right along here.

I guess I'll go back and read Page 1 again.

Oh, meant to say this:  Thanks and a tip o' the hat to BK for posting the pictures!

It would be so great to have seen those two evenings to compare and contrast with the NYC evening.

I've been listening to BBC broadcasts of CANDIDE this morning: 2005, with Michael Slattery and my friends Varla Huhtanen and Kim Criswee, and the 2007 Edinburgh Festival broadcast with Matthew Polenzani and Laura Aikin. Both concerts star Thomas Allen as Dr Pangloss and Martin, the Streetcleaner. I prefer the 2005, not just because of Kim and Carla but I think the conductor is better. Then I listened to part of a live performance from 2007 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, with Brandon Jovanovich and Laura Aikin. The Italian narriation is a bit wearing, though. I think the video clips might be more fun:

Sorry for the Cinemascope! I hate it when others do it, and I'm too retarded to figure out how to condense the information. I need to wtch someone else do it andape their process till it's ingrained.

So, I posted the Auto-da-fe, and links to other numbers are on the sidebar now.

Here's a photograph of the East Coast Singer and me right after the second show.

She's lovely!

Of course, you are cute, too.

Why are they doing a remake (sort of) of THE SOUND OF MUSIC?  Even as a live event on network (NBC) television, is there really a need?

Perhaps Meron and Zadan are trying to atone to God for what they did to THE MUSIC MAN with Matthew Broderick?

Thank you one and all for your thoughts and concerns regarding my fellow high school graduate.  It isn't the first time that I have thought about this as another danger of living alone.  Granted, chocking on food is not one of the Top Ten reasons for dying, but it is a scary thought.  I have only one apartment in my section of the building that I can reach in my wheelchair.

Perhaps I will have to give up eating any food at home.

Such lovely photos from MR BK.

Yes DR CHAS SMITH - I am hoping that MR BK's recording of FOLLIES is my ticket to understanding the show - or at least liking it a little more.  I think I have all of the Midnite Movie series DVD's......I enjoy most of them.....

DR JOHN G I hope you enjoy Miss June Kenney in her defining role in ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE......

I love most of the music from FOLLIES, but I can't say that I think the show itself is great.  Perhaps, had I seen the original production, like BK did, I would like the show more than I do.

DR TCB, when I was teaching college in 1971, the head of the department was going through a divorce and he was separated from his wife who lived ay their house with the children. He was a pig who'd knocked up one of his students. Anyway, that's not the story here. His wife choked to death on a sandwich duting lunch and one of the boys came home to find her dead on the kitchen floor.

For years I have worried about a similar death.

The original was amazing. The youtube clips only suggest how great it was, but the transformation from a ruined theatre to Loveland was one of the great theatrical moments, and there was nothing so spectacular or equal to it in the last revival.

MBarnum, I saw this notice from a theater friend and I immediately thought of you.  Unfortunately, there is no way you can get to Puyallup in time.  I will let you know if it gets posted on YouTube.

Thanks, Kevin.  I am glad that ruined frozen food is the worst of the damage you suffered.  That storm looked scary!

I am going to watch the World Soccer Championship game.  It is nice to see the entire Italian team proudly singing their national anthem.   Not so much the Spainish team.

DR TCB, I always worried about two possible deaths: one was, and still is, choking to death. The other was that I would open my door to find John McGlinn with a gun waiting to blow me away. I'm lucky he didedbefore he killed me.

Both Robert Kimball and I worried about that one. McGlinn blamed us both for his career hitting the skids.

It never entered his mind that it could have been word of his sexual harassment or squandering other people's money.
