Back from watching AS GOOD AS IT GETS which, for some reason, I had never seen.  Loved it.  And what a beautiful Blu-ray.  Twilight Time scores again -- not that I'd expect anything less.

More piano duets - a piano duet version of the Overture to Don Giovanni - it's quite good.  I wonder if it's cheating if I use a metronome

Just remember the Allegro is twice the speed of the Andante opening.

I've taken a cold bath and feel quite refreshed.

Woah, good point, Larry.  Thanks.  First pass was not quite dreadful, but yeah, the first four bars of the Allegro were a train wreck!!

A cold bath?  How hot is it in New York today?

And I imagine it is humid, as well.

TCB---I'm sorry about your classmate.

Thanks, Kevin.  I am glad that ruined frozen food is the worst of the damage you suffered.  That storm looked scary!

Yes, I feel quite lucky.

KevinH, here's a story from the Washington Post on what food to keep and what to pitch:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/power-outage-and-food-what-to-pitch-what-to-keep/2012/07/01/gJQAjbJ1FW_story.html?hpid=z3

Thanks, JohnG!  Just to be safe I threw everything from the freezer out.  I had a feeling the pickles would be allright, but I had already gotten rid of them before I read this.

I was watching The Music Man on TCM.  I still have to get a ticket for the Arena Stage production before it leaves.

Sorry I've been E and T.  Yesterday I went to the lake to see Mom and Dad.  Mom and I had fun running around shopping, visiting people etc.  I came back last night and was tired

Today I had breakfast with Paul, did some shopping I needed to do, then went to a Hispanic family festival at a local Catholic church.  I went in with a local nonprofit for a booth to hand out immigration information.  I had a really good time

I'm also a bit sad that I'm starting the sixth and final book in Howard Fast's Lavette family saga.  It starts with The Immigrants.  I've loved every book.   Has anyone else read them?

I'm watching the Olympic trials.  I love watching the swimming, diving and gymnastics.  What are your favorite Summer Olympic sports to watch?

I met Lucy the cat, Lily the cat's sister when I went to the lake, She's a sweetheart.  I think both cats need to eat a lot more food. They are skinny
