Both Dan (the Man) and Danise have posted in the last couple of days, so I would assume they were doing OK. Dan wa the one who offered us Judi Dench "A Little Night Music" recordings.

When I make the Chipotle Pot Roast Tacos recipe that came with the Dutch oven, then I'll post the photo, Vixmom.

In the last couple of days, I managed to watch in two parts the PBS Reba McIntire-Brian Stokes Mitchell "South Pacific." Best sung version of that score I may have ever heard. Really got to me.

I will have to thaw the roast first. So, probably not for a few days. And I might try it with that Hatch green chile salsa that was in the gifty bag, instead of chipotle. And of course I use lettuce or cabbage leaves instead of tortillas for the tacos since they are lower carb. So, don't expect the original recipe, but any means. But do except good.

Watching "In Which We Serve" tonight. Still very effective piece of propaganda.

These little cups were filled with chorizo, black beans, corn and cheese. They were also served at the book signing and were outrageously good. Need to get the recipe from the chef. Don't look hard and would good for a holiday party.

I'm glad that Tom Berenger won an Emmy.  He definitely deserved it.

But, the show was a total bore.

Since DR Jose has now run out of photos, here are the few that I remembered to take.

This was taken outside of HABIBI, where we had lunch. HABIBI is a popular Lebanese restaurant in downtown Portland at 3rd and Pine which I have long wanted to try out.

I snapped a photo of this wonderful vintage neon sign over in Chinatown. Loved it!

Trying to snap a photo of the two of us at Pix Pitassarie gets me all twisted up. Or it could be all the sugar I inhaled from four desserts in one sitting  8)

Had a good rehearsal with Juliana, and then went to The Federal to see a club act done by the winner of LA's Next Great Stage Star or whatever it's called.  I was one of the judges and I voted for this gal and then she did a Kritzerland show.  This was her first time doing anything like this - she had no director, so considering that she did very well.  She could be a lot more comfortable and avoid the traps she fell into with a director or at least a pair of eyes to watch.

My classmate, Amanda, took me out for sausages and ice cream.

For sausages, we went to Otto's Sausage Kitchen.

For ice cream, we went to Salt & Straw. We both ordered "flights" of ice cream, so we were able to try eight(!) different flavors.

And it was great catching up with her!

Worst opening of an awards show in a long time, in my opinion!

We didn't watch any TV at my sister's house, so I'll watch it later.  When I got home, I watched the third and final episode of PBS's "Broadway or Bust," the documentary about "performers preparing for the National High School Musical Theater Awards," aka The Jimmy Awards.  It was a bit emotional and a lot of the kids are VERY talented.

And then I met up with my friend, Bob, who teaches here in Portland, and also does work for Portland Opera. He walked me around downtown Portland for a bit, and we finished up with a beer at Urban Farmer. What a great space! It's part of the Macy's/The Nines Hotel building.

And it was great catching up with him!

They're obviously setting it up for Amy and Rory to leave the show...it's already been announced that that's what's going to happen.

I stopped at Yum Yum donuts on the way home and got a mini-apple fritter.  It was great.  I blame Jose, of course.

And then I ended up having dinner at the abode of currently E&T DR JMK. He had noticed I was in Portland via my Facebook posts, and invited me over for dinner. So, I also ended up meeting his wife, Betsy; his two boys, Gabe and Zach; and his two dogs, BeeGee and Blanche.

It was great meeting all of them in person for the first time, and Betsy's culinary skills really did impress me - as they have other DRs. She did not make her "famous" chocolate cake tonight, instead she made a very delicious Apple Pie. :)

Otherwise...

My brother, Jay, has been texting me pics of Baby Grace every now and then... And each time I get one and look at her, I just start to tear up again. -And, yes, tears of joy.

In fact, it seems that Baby Grace even sent me a text of her very own. She mentioned how much she loves bathing "just like mom does". :)

I got laden with swag yesterday. It was almost embarrassing. The first event, which I did not have to judge, came with a basket that featured an enamel cast-iron Dutch oven that must weigh more than 20 pounds. Wrapped up in it were a large bottle of Italian EVOO, Hatch green chile salsa, a bottle of wine, snickerdoodles and a jar of bacon jam.

The evening basket was from the margarita pour off. After eliminating four of the six finalists because they all tasted like bad margarita mix, they gave us each a bottle of margarita mix. Go figure. But the plastic bowl (not a Dutch oven) had caps, a T-shirt, a beer koozie, a pen, some Bud Light memorabilia, etc.

oooh post a picture of the dutch oven --- I am jealous!  Enjoy!!

DR vixmom - Well, since it was swag, maybe DR John G. could just send it to you instead? ;)

Congratulations to Uncle Jojo! Are the birthday twins sisters, or are they cousins?

Thank You, DR Laura!

Alyssa turned eight today - or maybe she turned nine. ??? (Bad Uncle Jojo)
Ariston is the son of my cousin, Kristine. Grace is my brother's daughter. -Does that make them cousins of some sort? ???

*And I just realized that I did not call Alyssa today to wish her a Happy Birthday. :( (Really Bad Uncle Jojo!).
