The Significant Other and myself went off to see a matinee of King Arthur this afternoon.

Lotsa man-candy and male-bonding until Guinevere shows up, and for the requisite sex scene with King Arthur, she's painted blue and looks like she's actually dead. One of the most the most inept sex scenes I've ever watched.

And England is pretty much a shithole. The only break in the overcast skies are as the final battle is being waged, and the sun starts shining through...it's symbolism, get it?

Michael and I had a lot of fun with this movie, but not as much fun as we had imitating the narrator for the trailers, saying "Directed by Ant Juan Few Quah!" in deep portentous voices.

I've just started Nothing Burns in Hell by an old favorite of mine, Phillip Jose Farmer.

Oohh... Susan Blakeslee! -The things you find out by reading HHW!!!

I'm still adjusting to the whole West Coast time zone difference thingy. I keep wanting to call home - or other people and places on the east coast - and then I remember it's not the same time there as it is here. Ah, well...

I've been spending the afternoon putting together various pieces of music, as well as contacting other people and sources about various peices of music. All in all, it's been a very a successful "hunt".

And I also got in a nice nap. -As I'm sure BK and Tammy did too.

Well, I still have to do some follow up on some of the research I was doing earlier...

I was all set to start THE DAY OF THE LOCUST when I heard someone dropping a package on my front stoop. It was my RKO Film Noir boxed set, and so I put LOCUST aside and quickly plucked OUT OF THE PAST from the box and put it in the DVD machine. I've been waiting to see this movie for decades.

And I wasn't disappointed. Lots of twists, turns, and double-crosses, I never knew where the story was going next, and I enjoyed not only the name actors but also wonderful new faces I don't remember seeing in movies before (Paul Valentine in particular). And was Dickie Moore just about the most handsome and soulful young man I've ever seen? I think so. I had no idea he was even in this. Last movie I remember seeing him in was LITTLE ANNIE ROONEY.

As for Jane Greer, well, she may not have had quite the sneaky moxie of Mary Astor in THE MALTESE FALCON, but she certainly ran her a close second.

Stargate SG-1 had a fairly good opener. They managed to have three plotlines running simultaneously at one point, with good intercutting. And the changes were dealt with fairly well, explaining the villians and the heroes.

How they open Stargate Atlantis should prove interesting.
