I just realized that the time display on my browser says that my last message was "Posted on: Today at 09:05:08 PM".

I forgot to change the "Time Offset" option under "Look and Layout Preferences" in my profile to be 0, so that it no longer displays Daylight Saving Time time.

Today I drove Vixdad to the station and the Vixter to school using Vixdad's Hyundai - worried about the fact that we were down to about a 1/3 of the tank

-then on my way to the office I saw a gas station with GASOLINE!!!!! The line was "only" 5 blocks long so I got on it and after "only" 40 minutes I was able to fill the tank!

One reason the line moved so "quickly" was that they were only accepting cash payment and people were arriving at the pumps after waiting only to turned away

Fortunately I was in such fear of long blackouts and inability to use credit or get to a working ATM witht he upcoming storm that I took a third of my paycheck in cash last week and kept it on my purse

I have not touched it saving it for an emergency so I was able to buy gas and travel to work in a much more cheerful frame of mind

Then this evening I picked the Vixter up from work in my Honda and decide to take a little tour to seei f we could find another station as my car was also down to less than a 1/3 tank and we are expecting a N'or'Easter on Wednesday

I live just a few houses from the main drag in town and there are 6 gas stations within walking distance but they were all dark with ropes across the driveways...

I decided to checkout a couple of other stations in a more residential are of townand after passing three more closed stations we found one that was pumping - a small station with only 4 pumps and a line that extended a mile down the road

We decided to pass and kept on going and 2 blocks later we found a station with 6 working pumps and only 20 cars on line!!

No - NY hasn't gone to that system- we did that back in the 70's

I NEVER carry cash - I am so pleased I had it with me - I would have been so upset to have waited in line and then to have been turned away - I thought the guy in the truck in front of me was going to hit the gas attendant but the police presence is probably what made him stop yelling and get back in his truck

But Chas the OUTRAGEOUS gas prices in '79! Gas was almost 75 cents a gallon!!!! People predicted it would hit a dollar!!
