"mumbling" in movies is an issue, as is "mumbling" on stage, especially in musicals.

Well, my The Book of Mormon lottery idea for Wednesday in SF was about a week early.  My pal Mark and I decided that we should buck up and go see it despite how we really felt about it and so we planed to go Wednesday.  Well, it doesn't open until NEXT Tuesday.  And it's here for approx 5 weeks and in that time I don't even have time to see it, let alone try for the "Lottery" as it's all sold out.  I'm holding out for the 4th National Tour.

I played that album to death, and saw it with Kenneth Nelson (? - I think) in the mid-1960s in Miami.

Then I saw the filmed version once, at a drive-in.  I still have the soundtrack album as well as the original cast album.  Don't remember much of the film.

Yes -- Kenneth Nelson and Lesley Stewart, and it was directed by him.  Coconut Grove Playhouse, July 1965.

There is no way I will get my performance evaluation finished before I leave for my end of year vacation. My boss knows that and agrees. It will have to happen in January unless I come in for an hour during my time off to appease the gods of HR.

If it is "only" an hour why not trade one hour working late before you leave for arriving an hour late on your morning back?

I so much agree with today's Notes about the mumbling voices on screen today. I have to switch sub-titles on for most modern films because I can hardly understand a word the actors are saying. And, yes, Christian Bale is one of the worst.
Plus the music and background sounds are often not muted anymore.

Good morning. I don't know from today's actors. But in my opinion, some of these local women radio/television personalities need some speech therapy or something because many of them have little girl voices. I don't trust an adult woman who talks like a baby.

I know what you mean.  While I have a young voice I also had my "phone" voice for work.

It's not just the voices.  It's the faces, too.  They all look alike.  There are one or two looks, or styles, or types, for the guys, and the same for the gals.

Especially the weather girls. ;D

I did not see Ray Milland, my absolute favorite male voice, or Ginger Rodgers mentioned.

While not as distinctive as some other actors I have always liked Henry Fonda's voice.

I know, right?   Faces, looks... I find it hard to keep track with modern day movies, especially ones with people in their early 20's , etc, they all look the same.  Same hair, same face, I just can't tell them apart, and then it's hard to understand the story

Kenneth Nelson was Anthony Newley's standby on B'way.  Joel Grey's standby on the road was Barry Dennen.

And here's a link to their home page so you can see how prominent we are.  Do me a favor and go watch there and leave comments.

http://broadwayworld.com

Yes the announcement is very prominent. And when you click on "broadway tv" it is very easy to see the Outside the Box section. So those things are great.  I still find the site extremely busy. I guess I'm just not used to it. Can't wait to hear what the numbers are for the shows now that they are on broadway world.

Well, let me put it this way - in the three hours since the announcement, the season two premiere episode has had more views than in a week on You Tube, so that's heartening.

The season one episodes are crawling along, but mostly everyone will have seen those, given our You Tube views on those - and they've been around for a year already. Still, they all have hundreds of views in three hours.

Well this is an interesting film.....I have never seen STOP THE WORLD onstage.....I have the Cast Album.....

What struck me immediately was that the fanfare before the WB logo was the same fanfare used for the Carol Lynley version of HARLOW....also produced by Bill Sargent...  And there was an "Additional Material" credit for the Bergmans....and I heard a bit of "I Believed It All' - also from HARLOW at the beginning...

Didn't watch the entire movie....just bits and pieces....but it was interesting.

I guess the connection is Al Ham who wrote that song with the Bergmans and did some other composing for HARLOW.....

I saw Newley in the revival tour. I'd love to see the movie one of these days. Alas, it's not on DVD yet.

The movie was interesting -- I'd forgotten about the B&W portions, and the fact that they presented it as though on stage in front of an audience.

I think they released it to VHS, but that's all.

Note to self:  get that DVR!
