I think I mentioned my favorite Thanksgiving memories the other day. I was living in Florida, and Thanksgiving was always warm and sunny. No sign of the short winter to come. My friends Bill and Laurie would always host, inviting various friends in for the day.
Dinner was always the traditional feast, which Laurie would have to have and Bill seemed to enjoy making, for the most part. He would always set what the wine would be and we'd all bring a bottle so we could compare and enjoy. I think it was what really got me started on studying wine.
Nirmala, who is a strict vegetarian, would bring a host of fiery Southern Indian dishes that often eclipsed all of the traditional fare, and I dove right in.
We became a loose sort of family that continues to this day, thanks to email and Facebook.
And I am thankful for their love in the way that I am thankful for the family that we share here.
