Then I come home and see that Fed Ex has been there - they haven't taken the signed note I left so they could leave the package, and instead the driver has left me a door tag.  I called Fed Ex and unfortunately the idiot driver hadn't scanned in the door tag and without me knowing the tracking number they could find no record of the package, not even by my address.  Of course, I have no way of knowing a tracking number because the package is from some studio and contains screeners.  So, they tell me he'll be back Monday, but who knows if this package is now just going to disappear into the ether.  Completely frustrating as I really have time this weekend to watch stuff and won't next weekend.  The lovely part of the day was three packages (one of which contained a pumpkin pie sent via Fed Ex to the mail place from the East Coast Singer), one surprising residual check from, of all things, The Creature Wasn't Nice, and my new first edition of Cloud Atlas.  And I did get via regular mail a screener for Flight.

From DR John G:
Quote
DR Jane, I'm sorry about the Trader Joe's mistake of a meal you got stuck with.

Thanks but it really is ok.  I wasn't expecting much & figured I would eat less if I didn't like it.

Aren't you going to take the rest of it back?

I put it down the garbage disposal.

Vixter had to work yesterday, Vixdad my parents and I went to my brothers house  where his inlaws also gathered

My SIL and her Mom were both coughing up a storm and sai they had been sick all week.... they did all the cooking

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we are all expecting to come down with the plague -  I already have a sore throat

wouldn't you think that they could have called and said look we're sick -  we cannot host Thanksgiving?  I would have gladly   done the cooking instead

Or worn masks ;)

Time to get new "cheaters."  I thought that said, "Or worm masks."

Off in a bit to the Ford River Parade, which is San Antonio's official kickoff to the Christmas season. The River Walk's lights are lit for the first time this fall, and then an hour-long parade of floats lit up with people either performing or playing music on them follows. It's a really nice alternative to Black Friday.

This sounds lovely.  Today in town the Christmas parade should be starting about now.  It ends at 5:30 when the lights in the Plaza are turned on.  After walking in the park this afternoon they barricaded the street exits earlier than I expected & I had to find another way home.

I've been to our pitiful local mall and to a Mexican dinner with my sister and her husband and their daughter.  The three of them spent the day looking after Mom and I'm most appreciative.

Do you think your sister might be able to visit more often?

Of course, that was their assumption that that's what I wanted, but it's too late to do anything now.  The next time renewal happens I will be SEVENTY.

If you cancel before then do you receive a refund?

Did the singer bake the pie?

I'd like that, DR Jane.

I know it might be harder for you with winter coming but maybe she can manage it.  I'm sure your mother would enjoy it as much as you would appreciate it.

All the Build a Bear stores in my province are closing in one month. My nieces are devastated as there was a huge really nice one about 10 minutes from them. :(

I just read that Deborah Raffin has passed away.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/actress-deborah-raffin-dies-of-leukemia-at-age-59/2012/11/22/6bc511a6-3508-11e2-92f0-496af208bf23_story.html

I know she has been mentioned here but I don't really remember her.

Great Filichia on Friday today about the new Kurt Weill-Lotta Lenya book. WIll have to look for that.

The author is Mr Scumbag himself, Ethan Mordden. I'm sure it's full of his twee little comments.

Is this enmity similar to that you held for "the conductor of little talent" (i.e. if he dropped dead tomorrow, you would suddenly be effusive with praise for him)?

Or would you spit on his grave?    ;)

The past 3 days have exhausted me, so I'm signing off to watch the second half of Cincinnati/S. Florida and then I'm going to bed - 'night!

It took me awhile to remember how to download a library book directly onto my Nook HD.  I checked out the 3rd book in a series I'm reading.  I was going to purchase the 2nd book, since my library doesn't have it, only I discovered no one has it.  It isn't available as an eBook-odd.

Lots of schlepping around today and it suddenly feels like the Friday night of a very long week.  Also, I'm running on less sleep than I should have had last night.  A lot less.  It will be wonderful to make it up tonight.

Jane, yes the Singer baked the pie.  I'm on my way to get some whipped cream and I shall partake of it this evening.  I'm still so irritated that I don't have my Fed Ex package - who knows what goodies were within.

I enjoyed doing the play version.  Minus Ms, Raffin.

I don't actually have anything I am planning to watch this weekend, or to listen to; but I imagine that tomorrow I will hunt down Brent (well, his CD) and my favorite Kritzerland release, of A CHRISTMAS CAROL / A CHILD IS BORN.
