The Safeway man just delivered my order for the week. Oh gosh!  Did I some how order a pumpkin pie and whipped cream.  Well, guess I will have to some of it.

Safeway delivers!  Is that your local Safeway or do most of them?

I believe they all deliver.  Try pulling up Safeway.com and click on Grocery Delivery.

If you have a busy schedule, you can lock in a One Hour Window for delivery @ $12.95, but if you are in no hurry, you can pick a Four Hour Window and it is only $6.95.  For me, either way, it is a bargin.

Sounds good.  I doubt they would drive all the way out to me even if the one in towns delivers.  I was curious.  I think it is great you have this option.

I need to research a few problems with my Nook HD. :(   Next week I might go to Best Buy & look at the Mini iPad again.

Found a copy of Ken Bloom's "Hollywood Musicals: The 101 Greatest Song-and-Dance Movies of All Time," the sequel to, what else?,  "Broadway Musicals."

Well, you're meant to take exception to some of the movies included and, more likely, some that aren't. I think "The Pirate" has a place on the list, and an argument could be made for "It's Always Fair Weather" and "Hallelujah, I'm a Bum." He includes "Good Mr. Chips," but then takes the songs and the performances of them to task, saying it's included only because it's dramatically effective.

But the biggest disappointment is the poor copy editing and even worse proof reading. Words are misspelled left and right. It seems that if Bloom went back to revise a sentence, both versions ended up in print.

Never tried to make a pie crust -- except maybe I did make a graham cracker one once for some key lime pie.  I know a freshly homemade one can be really good, but I don't think there's such a difference that it would be worth wrecking my day (and the effort would surely wreck a good day) for one.

Am trying to get over my aversion to making pie crust from scratch. That, of course, means having to make pies. Today it will be a side-by-side comparison of Kentucky transparent pies, one with cream and the other without. The one without is likely the traditional transparent pie, because the filling sets up like a pecan pie filling without the nuts. With cream, it sounds more like chess pie. I think the sounds of both are winners.

Then sometime in the next week, there'll be a medieval mushroom pie, which has 2 pounds of mushrooms and 2 cups of grated Swiss cheese baked in a pie crust. That sounds like a main course for a meatless meal to me, with some greens and lettuces from the backyard as a side salad.

They all sound good to me.

I think it's more a matter of practice than anything. I hate doing it, but I hate it less and less each time I do it. Plus, someone gave me a realy easy food processor recipe that seems to work well. So, I just have to do it a few times and get in my muscle memory, I guess.

I have made pie crusts, and nobody died; but I think it was making pie crusts that turned my hair gray.  Maybe not, but I still stopped making them because they are a pain.

While I was downtown last night, I noticed that Cathy Rigby's "Peter Pan" was coming to town in a few weeks. It didn't say if Brent Barrett were still with the production, so I went to the Majestic Theater's website. They had a link to the production's website, or so I thought. I clicked on it and, well, it was to a British production.

So, KevinH, do you know?

I am not as close to Brent as Kevin may be, but Brent told me he was doing the entire tour.

Just to be sure, I sent Brent a message on FaceBook.  He is probably doing two shows today, so I don't expect to hear back before Monday.

Amazon just wrote back that they are sending a second shipment via overnight delivery for Monday at No Charge and forwarding my complaint about the delivery service to their shipping dept. Fantastic!

I have had 3000 mg of vitamin-C, and it's time for some peppermint tea, not chrysanthemum.

Do you have any zinc for your cold?

Good for Amazon!

I take zinc every day.

When Ken was doing the 101 musicals book, he asked me for a summary of the original plot for BABES IN TYOYLAND, which I sent him. He didn't use it and published the cockamamie synopsis from the old McSpadden book of operetts and musicals that has none of the story correct!

I used to make fantastic pie crust! So did my mother on her saner days, so maybe it's genetic.

Is your crust better on your saner days?

I am trying to finish a really good book. It is the last book in a trilogy (it's a dystopian and the final book is called Reached). But my nieces are here. And everytime I get to a good part one of them runs in and wants to play.

I will have to finish it tonight!

;D

I feel very guilty about my lack of patience with my young children when I was nearing the end of a book.

I finished the book after they left. I actually started reading the new Ivy & Bean book to my niece. She really likes them. Hopefully we will finish it tomorrow. Then at least I can include it on my goodreads list. Since it's 125 pages I think it's okay to include a kid's book.

I have managed to ignore the temptation to eat pumpkin pie, until after I eat my dinner.  That sounds very noble, but it hasn't kept me out of the Jelly Bellys.

Hector "Macho" Camacho has passed away.   They took him off of life support and he died a short time later.

That is always such a tough decision to mke.  I hopeI never have to go through that again.
