Here's something interesting and it makes me wonder if I've missed anything - I get envelopes daily from the studios with screening invites - most of these I deposit in the trash without opening because I don't want to go and I'd rather wait for screeners.  But I opened the one from Fox Searchlight and therein were instructions on how to download two of their films from iTunes in HD.  Go know.  Have to read up on them to see if I even want to watch them, since it's a pain in the butt cheeks to do so on the computer.

I did check the online DGA group and this does seem to be the first instance of this.  I also read that other members got several screeners I haven't got, so hopefully those will arrive at some point soon.

I went to see SKYFALL and enjoyed it. Not exactly what I expected. It started as a traditional Bond film but became something quite different although I don't think the plot and motivations stand up to close scrutiny. I still don't like Daniel Craig in the part but at least he was better in this than the previous two films. I didn't realise Javier Bardem was in it - he's one of my favorite actors.

One thing I don't like about modern films is the muted, or dull, colors they all have and despite some exotic locations, I didn't see a blue sky once.

Good to see that the multiplex screen where I saw SKYFALL showed the film with the full height and width of the screen. Unlike when I saw PROMETHEUS there, when for some reason, it was shown at reduced height within a 1.85:1 screen area which severely lessened the impact.

Facebook alert: I just went to my page and was informed that I was now friends with a Henry L_____.  Who the fat hell is he? I don't know him and I certainly got no friend request from him.

Is Facebook punking me?

And I am home. SUPERMAN s ready for its Dec 20 readthrough, Joshie can head to Hilton Head, and I can go back to ROBERTA.

And . . . two regional theatres have inquired about CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER for 2013! I'm gonna be a franchise.

I've never made refried beans. I've never seen a need to, either. They're served at every restaurant on every street corner in this town.

But I do know that the best are cooked down in a pot and then cooked in a skillet with plenty of bacon fat or lard to add to the flavor. That way you get some healthy meat in there to counterbalance those pesky carbs from the beans.  :D

My mom has made some refried beans that are pretty good (no lard, though).  She makes them with a thinner consistency than usually I like, but they do taste good.

That is his new Mickey Mouse watch which I gifted him in honor of my birthday. I told him it was my tradition to give gifts to others on my birthday...but actually, I had bought that for him a few months back and it has been sitting in my car's glove compartment all this time. I had forgotten about it until finding yesterday.
