The news just backtracked: 20 year-old Adam Lanza was the shooter. 24 year-old Ryan Lanza is in custody.

I had to stop watching the networks news feeds......everything is very confused.  I wish they would shut up unless they know something for sure.

No less than four Fed Ex trucks have stopped either in front of or near my house - I thought more screeners, but not one of those delivery people came to my door.  Odd.

With the increase of school shootings it is scary having a son working in an elementary school.  I hope Bryan never has to work an emergency room after something like this.

I just downloaded two books from the library off of my wish list.  It has been awhile since anything has been available.  This probably means a couple of books on my hold list, that have been close to available for ages, will finally open up.

Finished silver linings playbook - ultimately a very nice film - just took a while to get there and tell the story.

Next up Zero Dark Thirty, I guess.  I could go to a screening of The Sessions tonight, but I'm not keen on going out, frankly.

I'm watching CBS News, which is broadcasting from Newtown.   What a tragedy!  I can't imagine what the parents of the children are going through.

And now for something completely different...

So, last week, I saw Capital Playhouse's Nuncrackers.  I liked it but a reviewer HATED it.  But the point of my post is his last paragraph...and I think BK, especially, will appreciate this:

Quote
One last thing: I know local audiences, Capital Playhouse's in particular, are undemanding. But please, for the love of all that's decent and true, can we please come back to our senses about standing ovations in Olympia? They don't mean, "My kid is in this show." They mean you saw exceptional work deserving more than the usual minute of clapping. It's the equivalent of "A+," not, as my wife said, "O for effort." That's an old joke, too, but it's funnier than anything in Nuncrackers.

:D

We live in a society where people can post on theater chat sites grisly things about people being "found dead in their Manhattan Apartment" - and it causes no concern at all to NYC authorities that the anonymous poster might be someone troubled or dangerous and treat it as "free speech."

Or where someone can post photos of someone's name on gravestones, and it doesn't seem to the authorities that this is a deranged person worth looking at.

Well, it's time for me to go to the theater, and then home.

Be back later.

Still haven't decided if I'll venture out to see The Sessions - I would really like to see it, but I have a feeling a screener will be coming.  Meantime, I'm watching Zero Dark Thirty - not too pleasant a film.

I'm going to ask for some strong vibes from today through next week.  I've applied for a position I really want....it involves wearing a robe at work....my interview with the commission is 9:00 Tuesday morning.  There are 16 applicants, so any vibes you can send my way would really be appreciated.   Tuesday they narrow the field to three, Friday those three are interviewed and the decision is reached.
