To appease my restlessness Keith took me for a drive to Jacksonville, about 45 minutes away, to pick up the salad dressing I like, have lunch, and walk around the little town.  On the way we made an exciting stop at Home Depot.

A cat rescue group had set up a store and had an incredibly sweet, gentle, young black cat there.  We didn't bring her home but I spent a good amount of time giving her some love.

Page four?  Four pages?  You'd think it was a Sunday just before Christmas.

I now have 5 books checked out from the library.  I'm obviously in feast mode.

I am no where near ready to go tomorrow. Luckily, I'll be on vacation when I get home, so it really doesn't matter if I don't have everything done before I go.  I'm waiting to see if I have the ability to stay away from the office

My curiosity got the better of me - and I ordered the Laurence Olivier box set that has several of his BBC versions of American Plays.

I thought I wanted to see COME BACK, LITTLE SHEBA......starring Olivier and Joanne Woodward.....  I might have liked it if I had never seen Shirley Booth in the film version..... Booth and Burt Lancaster and even Terry Moore were all very good in that movie.  And of course Richard Jaeckel as Turk.  The Oliver version was much shortened.....Woodward was too pretty and still had a lovely figure....Olivier was just too old to play Doc.....  Carrie Fisher was nothing as Marie and they guy playing Turk had a great 80's look - notice I said GUY not ACTOR.  Too bad the play was set in the "late 1940's" as the credits said.

There was always radio music and WRONG songs playing under the action.....and some "Ma Perkins" intros.....just because a song was written in that era doesn't mean it works for the story of the play...

There are a few other productions in the set.  I remember turning off the CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF with Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner and Olivier as Big Daddy.....because he was not so hot in THAT role either.....

I was just checking out the Olivier films available on Amazon.  I see they had the Laurence Olivier / Jennifer Jones version of CARRIE.  I just could never see Olivier in the Piper Laurie role.

I need to wrap gifts, but am sitting with Boo on my lap while I'm icing my ankle.  It's really hurting today.  The good news is I finally found my ankle brace, it feels tons better when I wear it.

Mary had a tramp stamp, one of the lambs cried, the other lamb wouldn't put on his ears, the angel had a speech impediment, the shepherds all had their backs to the audience, and one of the wise men danced Gangnam Style down the center aisle.

It went well.

Presents all wrapped so I'm all set for the drive to Wales where I'll be spending Christmas.

How long of a drive is that, Doug R?

I, unfortunately, have yet to visit Wales.  I don't know if we will get there when we do our genealogy trip through England.

When are you thinking of doing that?

Make sure you take the brace with you & don't "hide" it again. ;)

Since Bryan was off yesterday & worked today we called yesterday.  His wife is with him throughout the holidays and they had plans to go out tonight.  Fortunately he worked the 7:00-5:00 shift to have the evening off.

I've done the same thing a couple of times.  I ended up with three LP's from ROME ADVENTURE.

I have three copies of the soundtrack to "The Birdcage." ::)

Well, "The Wind in the Willows" is over...and has been for a couple of hours.  We had a great final show, with a great final audience.  Last night, Andy (the author of the book) gave everyone a bound copy of the script and the lead sheets for the songs.  This version of the script also included a couple of scenes that were cut from this production.  I'll have to read it to find out what they are.  It was a delightfully delightful experience. :)

Did anyone else here watch MR, MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL last night on NBC?  What a joke!  NBC was promoting the return of the show to the Christmas TV lineup.  The print was supposedly remastered, but NBC felt free to cut to commericals whenever they felt like it.  Even in the middle of a song.  I am glad I have the DVD to watch tomorrow.

At the Mexican restaurant for lunch we ordered a Margarita to share.  Our usual order is margarita, on the rocks, not salt, shot of Cuervo on the side.

The waiter confirmed on the side vs in the drink, which we don't normally need to explain, they began to walk away.  He turned around and said by ordering a double shot it was less expensive than having the second shot on the side.

We have never heard this.  Is it a hidden secret no one has told us about before today?
