Well, you've read the notes, the notes were edited, and now it is time for you to post until the edited cows come home.

Good morning.

TOD: Texting. I  like it as a way of leaving a message for someone. But I don't like real-time back-and-forth texting.

Good morning, all.

Feel better vibes for Sam and all in need.

The rains have begun. I don't know how hard the rains are going to get, just that by the time it's over, 4 to 6 inches are supposed to have fallen over the next two days.

TOD: Texting. It has not only helped erode grammar and spelling, but it seems to be the cause of an increasing number of accidents.

TOD:

A third vote for TEXTING.

It has taken the evolution of the Internet close to 20 years to irrevocably change life as we knew it.  But in the overall scheme of things we gained much as we lost much.

Texting is nothing but dangerous (in all senses of the word) clutter with no essential, redeeming feature.

Good morning, all! I'm having a really tough time getting started this morning.

Last night, I had a lot of strange dreams with a lot of strange dead folk: Laurence Olivier, my mother, and others. In my last dream, I was walking down a fire escape.

So, I'm having my coffee and trying to get my energy up to move downtown.

I'm against cell phones that permit one to do everything from texting to googling, and I don't understand everyone's need to check them before making a move.  I don't understand all these asses on the subway who, when their stop comes up, rush to the door to be first off the train and then slow down to check their phones so that everyone behind them must slow down.

BK,

Is the running time limit on the OUTSIDE THE BOX episodes self-imposed...or is it a requirement of the website?

Greetings from Toyland!

I just ran into the rental agent for our office, and he told me that the company across the hall was evicted and that the space was disgusting. He's hoping to rent it out soon,  so the crews will be in next week to begin cleanup and repair.

Can someone explain this huge slowdown in postings over the last two days after huge days of postings?  Has someone left us again?  Vacations?

TOD:

WARM-AIR HAND DRYERS

Does anyone like them? They are awful. Noisy; take ages to dry your hands; not as efficient as towels; studies have shown they are not as hygenic as towels. They are a backward step and are only installed because they are cheaper - not because they are better.

Dyson makes awesome hand dryers that dry your hands in seconds.

I also watched, and enjoyed, the latest OUTSIDE THE BOX. Alas, I have never seen CHINATOWN either, so most of it went over my head.

There are new high-powered ones that actually get the job done within seconds, and I do love USING them.  But it's a guilty, selfish love.  Have you ever been near a large busy public restroom that has a whole lot of them?  Oh my god.  From far away in other parts of the building you hear a constant roar, which only gets more deafening as you near the restroom itself.  I found this to be the case in an interstate service plaza recently, and if adopted by places like movie theaters with large restrooms, it's going to be a problem.

So, there are now greatly improved ones, at the expense of being serious noise polluters.  Interestingly, Grand Central Terminal had a couple of those several months back, and I found them replaced with the bad old weak ineffective ones a couple of weeks ago.

All of you people who somehow, inexplicably, have managed to never see CHINATOWN can do their penance by sending me some more swamp movies.
