I, too like Victorian homes, Art Deco, and Arts and Crafts. I am also fond of Edwardian buildings. As much as I scoffed at structures like the Big Donut (anyone from LA remember that?), I now rather welcome them. I guess I like the whimsy and it's a break from the monotony of so much blah architecture. Character! That's what I like.

I've mentioned infrared heating pads here before. I really am a fan. Small ones are available and affordable. I use mine daily. No pain when I'm on the pad.

One of my favorite buildings is the PSFS Building in center city Philadelphia:



Built in the early 30s as the headquarters of the PSFS Bank.  I remember being able to see the red neon sign atop the building from miles away through my parents bedroom window when we lived in Camden.

The building is now occupied by a Lowes Hotel.  The sign still continues to shine at night.

DR Vixmom, Mom has been doing great, thanks for asking.  (Though she's currently having some stomach issues due to a reoccurring condition of not having enough "good" bacteria in her intestines.  We are trying to get her to eat more yogurt.)

I am glad to hear it (not the stomach part obviously)  have you tried Greek Yogurt with some extra fruit?  Blueberries, strawberries, peaches?

We tried that but Mom doesn't care for that slight tartness of Greek yogurt.  I, however, can't get enough of it.  Yum!

I had planned on doing nothing today, but the weather outside was decidedly not frightful.  In fact, it was darn right nice enough to go out in the backyard and rake up some late falling leaves.  I then came I and spent the afternoon setting up and playing with my brand spanking new blu-ray player.  Not that I played an entire blu-ray--I played mostly with it's Internet features.  I found that it was a huge kick to play YouTube videos on TV.

I don;t think it matters the brand I buy whatever sis on sale  but I PILE  fresh fruit on  so its mostly fruit with a yogurt dip

Had a really productive work session with a singer, rehearsed the Guy Haines song, and then had a lovelier than lovely meal with dear reader KevinH.  Now, I must write.

I had a similar ordeal once, but my only aggravation was that by the time plane took off, I'd finished the book I planned to read on the flight, and all I could do during the actual flight was read the ailrlines literature. Oy!

Been there, done that, learning a critical lesson in so doing.  For some years I've viewed air travel time as one of the greatest opportunities for good, solid, uninterrupted reading.  I know of no better way to pass and take advantage of the time.

But I majorly blew it once, on a four-hour flight back here from Dallas, by finding myself with but a few chapters left in the book I was reading -- just as they announced an additional one-hour wait on the tarmac before takeoff.  DOOMED.  And all my own doing.  I nursed those chapters as slowly as I could, knowing there was nothing but the flight magazine which usually takes about five minutes to get through, even when there IS something worth reading.  

So, never again.  Now I always make sure I have at least one whole additional book that I know I can get into should the need arise.  And I only read books that are printed on paper.  Haven't yet been attracted to anything electronic.  Fortunately, I have plenty right here on my shelves to pick from.

Oh, I can spend a great many hours lost in the pages of a Sky Mall Catalog.  But I always have at least two e-books on my Kindle - just in case.

I am afraid, I know nothing about the TOD.  The only thing that inspires me is seeing those golden arches.

Saturday morning greetings from HOME!  We boarded the plane in a timely manner and then sat for 5+ hours as the weather deteriorated.  When we finally landed at Newark, we'd missed our connection to Dayton.  They got us on a flight to Cincinnati and Rob and Mary Linda picked us up and brought us home.  Today we'll retrieve Richard's car from Dayton.  By the time I fell into bed, I'd been up for 24 hours.

And I'm sick...

And I forgot I have a little rehearsal directly after that - Guy Haines was asked to sing Corner of the Sky at a little Schwartz soiree that happens a week after OUR Schwartz evening.  Since Guy is not singing it at our evening I told the people he could show up.  He can't be there for today's rehearsal so I'm filling in.
