Then I picked up a package which has this new book called Better Nate Than Ever - which has gotten some raves on amazon, about a young boy who runs away to audition for a musical version of ET on Broadway. I'm not going to read it, since I don't read fiction when I'm writing it, but while the first sentence is cute and perky, I found it wrong for a young boy. Nitpicking, of course, but it sounds more like an author than a character of the first person. Of course, Benjamin Kritzer was a precocious ten-year-old in the first book, but there's nothing he says that's really out of the ordinary, and it's not written in the first person anyway. I also found ET a little Outside the Box-ish. But I'm sure it's a fun book.
