I enjoyed the play last night Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.....an evening with George & Martha was certainly eye-opening.  All of the actors were very good....

Sounds like maybe the proofers should take another look. And have a couple more people read it, too. The more proofers the better.

I just looked online, and it appears the case I wasn't chosen for is still going on.

Great news about LAURA selling out so fast!

I have such a difficult time believing our Laura would ever sell out. Guess you just never know people, really.

TOD:

DVD:
If it arrives from Amazon.com then I will be watching 1958's GHOST OF THE CHINA SEA.

DVR:
Whatever the machine picked up last night, which I think would be THE OFFICE and THE LIFE AND TIMES OF WYATT EARP.

And because it is TGIF, and DR Jrand has not posted an Allison Hayes picture of the week in years, I will carry on this grand ole tradition started by my buddy in Indiana.

Allison Hayes in one of my all time favorite shots.

TOD:

DVD: OTHELLO (Welles) Hadn't seen this before but I was reading about the problems with the film and thought I'd take a look. Great visuals but the dialogue is not always easy to make out. Good job the Korean DVD has sub-titles!

TV: Watched THE WRECK OF THE MARIE DEARE  in HD on TCM. Excellent HD picture quality. I saw this when it was first released and thought it an excellent film - very well made - although it seems to be largely forgotten today. The scenes filmed (supposedly at sea) in the studio tank are extremely impressive and realistic.

Greetings from the DR Matthew and DD Ben cave.  (need to work on that greeting)

Today's agenda, funeral this morning (in which "More" will be played) Callbacks for the coat show and then a performance of the pink show.  I've tried to make it easier to remember so I've narrowed the titles down to one word.  Pink, Coat, Drowsy (duh), Web, Saigon and Poppins.   I know, some aren't very creative, but Helicopter is too long and the Charlotte show sounds like something that's not kid friendly.

Happy Froy Day!

The Stephen Sondheim song "More"? At a funeral?

DR CHAS SMITH - The Disembodied is one of Allison's s l o w e s t moving films - although she does look lovely.....if you are thinking of buying a Warner Archive title.....you might check out COUNTERPLOT or THE HYPNOTIC EYE.

Thanks for posting the picture DR MBARNUM......I always like to think the statue on the left side of the photo is commenting on Allison's costume.

And she does do a voodoo dance wearing a piano shawl with fringe on it.

This clip proves without doubt that there is no dignity in acting.

And if you happen to have Netflix Streaming you can watch Allison's COUNTERPLOT as well as HONG KONG CONFIDNETIAL and PIER 5, HAVANA! All very enjoyable semi-film noir.

In fact, for fans of such things, Netflix streaming recently added a ton of silent German films as well as lots of Charlie Chaplin.

I really love Netflix Streaming, so much wonderful, obscure stuff...I just wish I had the time to watch all of the things in my queue!

MEdia Check:

Blu-Ray:  CABARET, THE QUIET MAN

CD:  THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD revival, CABARET with Dame Judi

These may very well be the last CDs i purchase in a while.  Last week I discovered Spotify and I'm hooked!  There has thus far been very few cast recordings I haven't been able to find on it.  I've been able to find quite a number of out-of-print recordings (though last night, a search for The Hi-Lo's resulted in only one single track.)

I've only been listening either thru my iPad or on earphones, so I  don't know the true quality of sound that's coming through.  I'll try to give it a listen on my hi-fi system this weekend.  I'm still in the initial trial period, so I still have time to make up my mind about it.  But so far, I'm lovin' it!
