TOD - Another NASHVILLE fan here, along with GOSFORD PARK. Maybe I'll listen to my old LP of the former and suggest to Richard that we watch the latter on DVD.

NASHVILLE may be one of my 5 favorite films: amazng cast, some nice surprises in character and plot, and moments that can bring me to tears simply thinking about them. I saw it on its opening day and saw it again the next. I still wish Altman hadn't been taken off RAGTIME. Much as I love it, I find it a painful film to watch often. It's a heartbreaker. JRand62, I too love the soundtrack recording.

I can't stand the movie version of Ragtime, except for Cagney. I agree Altman would have been a better choice. The book is written in the same rhythm as an Altman movie.

I can understand that people find Altman's movies cold and not involving. But I find that the movies of his I react to aren't cold at all. In the same way that Sondheim's work isn't cold to me.

The few films of Robert Altman that I have seen, I did not care for. Looking at his credits he did a lot of television work in the 1950s, including THE MILLIONAIRE which is one of my favorite shows. I would need to check out those particular episodes and see what I thought of them

Something of interest for Broadway fans. This seller on Ebay has been selling some amazing publicity photos from vintage (1940s through 1980s) Broadway shows.

Just added are some gorgeous shots from THE HEAVENLY TWINS, LIL ABNER, DAMN YANKEES, HELLO DOLLY, GYPSY and much more. Even if you are not a collector of such memorablilia, it certainly is fascinating to see photos of the stars of these shows in costume!

I ended up at a Starbucks in Union City. She-of-the-likes-to-chat-and-listen-to-music-while-she-cleans is expected at 9:00am, so I set her materials out, left the check and scrammed. It was easier to hang out in my office while she did her thing, when I had an office, so I'm here at Starbucks with my iced coffee and oatmeal and my Key2 book for the Drowsy show and will do some programming, etc.

DR Matthew, what's yer keyboard, or what do you most often use?

Mine's a Kurzweil PC2X. (Wish it was a 3, but hey, I bought it too soon.) I don't have a lot of experience at keyboards and programming, so each time I do something with it I'm fighting the learning curve. But I love the learning of it more each time.

DR ChasSmith - I have a KORG Triton Studio, which I love and is very versatile, it can sequences, samples, etc, and after the learning curve was beaten, it's easy to program. However, it's hard to find time to sit at the keyboard and program it.

Recently, I purchased an Apple program called MainStage 2. You can program it like you would a synthesizer right on your computer and then connect to your keyboard through midi. I'm trying it out for Drowsy. It's nice because I can put the patches in order and splits and duals etc without having to be sitting at my keyboard to do it. There are a lot of sounds included and more on the internet if you can find them. The program is rather powerful but the learning curve is quite difficult if you're not savvy with these sort of things.

I'm hoping this works as the upside to using the computer as a "brain" is that I can bring a "light" keyboard with me instead of the KORG which weighs a ton (it seems)

Actually, Mike, it does get here in one day. The problem was the shipper got it to Fed Ex just after the cut-off time on Tuesday, so it wasn't shipped till yesterday. The Fed Ex dweebs made two attempts to deliver it this morning PRIOR to the mail place being open. It's not like it's a secret when the mail place opens - these drivers deliver there every day of the year. Fed Ex supervisor assured me another delivery attempt will be made by one and I can get the package then.

My personal favorite that the seller has listed so far, is this one from LIL ABNER. I don't know why, but it just gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.
