Well, I survived a 30-minute walk around the basement...

You didn't expect to?

I received a message this morning that I got third place in the Oscar contest at the local movie theater!   I didn't think I did that well, lol.  So I get a $20 gift certificate.  That means I've been in the top 3 for the past 3 years.  That's cool
Congratulations!

Didn't you win tickets last year, too, DR Cillaliz?

I am home from post office and pharmacy. The market trip was aborted because I had to get home and use the john.  I blame this on the fact that I waited in the cold for 25 minutes for a damned No 7 bus today. According to the vastly misinformed MTA schedules posted at every bus stop, there should have been 4 different buses in that period. Thank you and f**k you, MTA.

Quiet today.

DR JANE I have never been able to watch THE THIRD MAN all the way through.....but I think we are in the minority.  The only score that irritates me more is the lone harmonica score for DONDI.....

DR CILLA LIZ thanks for sharing your thoughts.....there were many things you wrote that I did not know about RE: The Jury.  Very interesting.

I haven't really been following the trial. But I am enjoying reading your insights too. And there were some things I also did not know re: the JURY.

Pretty good!  Congratulations!

$20 is still good!

We have some interesting movie specials here.  On cereal boxes there are coupons for free movie tickets in feb, or 2 for 1 for march-may. This is pretty good because tuesdays are $5.99. So you can do 2 for that price.

And the taco boxes have free movie snacks coupons.

The actress on Facebook who has twice told us all she was leaving Facebook, but who never leaves, has now announced she's back and anyone who doesn't like it can unfriend her.  What is with these needy people?  Go if you're going to go, stay if you're going to stay, but these immature games only make people look really foolish.  I have to bite my tongue not to respond, although I may.

I mentioned the Blu-ray of "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" earlier and I just noticed that as well as the original French language track it also inludes an English language dubbed version. I saw the film in French when it had its originally theatrical release and never even knew that there was a dubbed version. I watched a few minutes of it to check it out and it's one of the most inept examples of dubbing I've ever heard. Hardly any attempt is made to match the voices to the actors mouth movements - dialogue is often heard when actors aren't moving their lips and conversely lips move with no sound coming from them - an awful way to watch the film.

Maybe it is the K. Gordon Murray version!  ;D

Picked up a couple of packages, now I'll shower and then it's rehearsal.  I am so full of liquid right now - it's gross to eat an entire bowl of matzo ball soup, but I did - and I feel better for it, save for the bloated part.

I saw the dubbed version first. I didn't know who was speaking half the time. It was laughable.

BTW, thanks for the heads-up on the Jean Gabin Les Miz. I'm going to look for that version.

We did not like THE THIRD MAN and I found the music extremely annoying.
Was it the first time you saw the movie? I didn't care for it the first time, either, but I've grown to love it over the years.

I might have seen it when I was young but I didn't remember the story.  I assure you I plan to never, ever watch it again.  This afternoon I mentioned to Keith again how disappointed I was in the movie and he commented how much he disliked the music.  To me the purpose of the last scene was to be artsy but it wasn't logical.  It could have been both with one slight change.

LOL, IMHO you made a wise decision to stop viewing.   Funny was Osborne telling us before we watched how beautiful the score was.

If we are in the minority I'm glad Keith & I agree on this one.

The saga of the actress on FB is funny.  I've had friends say they are taking a break & do so.  I've know others to deactivate their account, without prior comment, then return months later.  I've not had anyone who made a big deal about it.

I believe I will have a cup of Milestone Coffee to celebrate.
