Did we discuss this on Comden and Green day - per wikipedia, the Petula Clark hit's title "Don't Sleep in the Subway"  was actually inspired by the show SUBWAYS ARE FOR SLEEPING

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don't_Sleep_in_the_Subway

per the song's co-author Jackie Trent in the wiki entry above

Thursday afternoon greetings!  I've been out and about to the vampire's blood lab, post office, bank, Target, book sale site, Meijer, and Kroger - whew!  When I got home, Richard was, and still is, on the phone with AppleCare trying to resolve the connectivity problems we've been having.

I'm ready for lunch!

Just got word that my ex-wife's mom died - in her mid-90s so a nice long life.  She was a very nice woman.  Even though the ex and I never talk, the mom would always ask the Darling Daughter about me, and the Darling Daughter gave her the Kritzer books to read as well as the first three Hofstetter books - she was a mystery fan and especially liked the latter.

My condolences, also, BK. Glad that she continued to care about you all of these years. That is very sweet.

DR JRand, you would have so much fun with the NYC HHW contingent, believe me. If you ever get the chance to go...do so!

And really, DR Elmore's fire escape is pretty comfy...plus he always serves tea or coffee in the morning.

Had such a fun dream - I was in NY in 1967 - me now - somehow back there.  First thing I did was walk into Joe Allen - full up, and so smoky I could barely breathe - everyone smoking - it was funny.  I said, "Enjoy it now - you'll either be dead or unable to do it in about thirty years."

This is of course a Time Machine dream indicating a longing for the past linked with a contentment with the present.

We're busy that day.  Can you come a week later.  We'll have plenty of time that week.

I am back from a trip to my local post office, which I avoid as much as possible because the manager there is a complete fool and the service at the 68th street branch is so superior. So I had to wait forever, simply to pick up a package, because she's forcing the postal clerks to not only act as clerks but to step and fetch things. Hence, there were only two windows oen for the noon crowd and the line was enormous.  I wish her a painful death soon.

I shall look forward to seeing them DR MBARNUM.

I am waiting for the delivery men to call and let me know they are bringing my new washing and drying appliances.

Dropped the ex-wife an e-mail - she responded and said that her mom was my biggest fan to the very end - very sweet.  If the timing is right and it's not a horrid drive, I'll probably go to the funeral.  I went to her dad's funeral when he passed away.

Just ordered the region 2 DVD of the 1958 Norwegian horror film De Dødes Tjern (Lake of the Dead). I already have the Sinister Cinema DVDr of it, but I love the film so much that I feel I need to upgrade to the anamorphic version (with subtitles, of course)

Here is a short clip from the film: A group of vacationers are discussing the deaths connected with the scary lake when, much to their horror, one of their friends decides to take a dip

BK, I'm sure that would be appreciated, especially by your daughter.  Sorry you've lost a big fan.
