Very messy snow cleanup today.  My town got eleven inches.  Neighbor had to come through and plow twice, and I had to use the snowblower.  (Such hardship.)  Too bad, though, because starting tomorrow we're in the high 40s and low 50s.  But if you didn't do this, you wouldn't get anywhere and it wouldn't go away by itself in a decent amount of time, either.

What the hell is the ptoblem with Fed Ex?  I wasn't home yesterday when they attempted a delivery so they left a door tag for me to sign releasing the package.  I did exactly that, left it on the front door this morning abd went to Toyland. I just got hime to find the release still on the door, but when I checked Fed Ex tracking, I was told they attempted a delivery today at 12:41 and there was no one here. How could the jerk making the delivery miss the release tag? What the fat hell?

I hope that the management fires this stupid ass delivery person.

DR Elmore, we are also waiting for a delivery (not FedEx) that was supposed to be here between 11am and 1pm.  It's now 2:50pm and I called the company, whose rep could not reach our driver.  We can wait until 4:30 then we're outta here.

Re the notes:  Yeah, can't wait to hear what film is!

I thought the baking of tapes was more for, say, "Golden Age" 50s and 60s stuff.  Good lord, that is major -- and critical -- restoration work you guys just did.

I first read about the process some 20 years ago, maybe even farther back, and I wonder if "tape ovens" have become a fixture in studios.  For those who don't know, there's also a way to un-warp vinyl records in ovens.  What won't they think of next!

The 50s and 60s stuff rarely need to be baked - that tape stock was incredible.  It's the 70s mostly, and some of the 80s, when a lot of cheap, substandard tape was going around.  If you try to play that stuff without baking the oxide begins to flake off the tapes in big chunks and you're done.  I do think it's some kind of normal oven, but beyond that I've never really watched the process.

I had a very good night's sleep, and have been inundated with calls (the composer, the director, paypal) since arising.  I literally just came up for air.

Last night I had a dream. Jason Graae was starring as the Phantom in "Phantom of the Opera." He got tickets for us, and we were going to see his show. On his day off from the show, we saw him playing the pipe organ at the mall. Then he showed us that he is immune to rattlesnake venom by reaching into his suitcase so his rattlesnake would bite him. Oh - Sandra was wearing a very frilly pink dress and an ugly hat.

That is so odd about the Costcos in the US not serving french fries. I can't imagine not eating fries with my hot dog! What do they serve to go with the hot dogs? Chips?

Are hot dogs the main dish? Maybe you guys have a lot of options. We used to have hamburgers (not sure if they still sell those). We have Pizza (but only 2 kinds). We have smoked meat sandwiches. And sometimes I've seen things like lobster rolls (but i don't think they sell that anymore).

Nothing but a drink comes with the hot dog.  You just get a dog or Polish sausage and a drink for $1.50 (plus tax, if applicable...in Washington state, it is).  I've also never seen a hamburger or anything with lobster at the Costco deli.

No fries at Costco around these parts.  But it isn't just them.  I'm very sorry to report that french fries aren't the standard side dish with hot dogs at all in the U.S. -- with the major exception of Chicago, where, by the grace of God, they did somehow became the standard side with true Chicago hot dogs.  And those are a subject unto themselves.  If you want 'em with your dogs elsewhere, you'll have to specifically request them.  As I remember it in Chicago, though (from the mid-1980s), you had to specifically state "no fries" if that's what you wanted.

Well I don't really eat hotdogs anywhere but at home or at Costco. But with McDonalds and all those places selling burgers and fries I would have thought that fries would have been a more popular side dish!

I think of potato chips with a hot dog, not fries.

I never eat at Costco, except for the samples while shopping, and aside from pizza never paid much attention to the food.

Yah if you were going to a fair or something I would think hot dogs and potato chips. But they don't serve potato chips at our Costco. And for some reason hot dogs and fries go amazingly well together.

Do the other Costcos serve hamburgers? Pizza? Wouldn't people ever want fries with those?

We have the hot dog and drink for $1.50. The fries don't come with it. You have to buy it separately. But everyone does.

Now, I could see fries on pizza with a chili gravy, cheese and some ranch dressing drizzled on top, then sprinkle bacon over the whole thing and maybe a over-easy egg in the center.

DR LAURA the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that you imagine that Mr Jason Graae would be entertaining at anything he attempts, and indeed you wouldn't mind if he was in every stage show that you saw.  He certainly seems ubiquitous in your entertainment reading.

The dress that DR SANDRA is wearing is symbolic of her growing into young adulthood and leaving childhood behind.
