After a slightly depressing visit with my Mom, I came home to find online evidence that a group of women who I thought were friends had a farewell gathering today for one of them who's relocating to the northern part of the state.  I was not invited.  Pizza, wine, and chocolate frozen yogurt for dinner were called for.

Aww Ginny, I'm sorry on both counts.  Are you sure your oversight was intentional?

It probably wasn't malicious, but the result of my not being as active recently on our online conversations about printed quilted handbags.

I'm glad it wasn't malicious, just thoughtless.  Of course that still changes how you feel about them.

Well thoughtless or careless is way better than malicious. Don't let it get you down.

Iam sure that John G already has one of these, but for the rest of us; make sure you "save" this new product.

What will they think of next?
Errr, one would have to hope that the correct  ahhh item was brought forth or there could be an arrest made. ;)  And I think there could be a very strong possibility of that happening anyway.

Pogue, I agree.   If something is given to me as a gift and especially if it's inscribed to me by the author, I would never sell it no matter what.  I'm afraid these people are beyond help - what caused this I will never ever know.  And that's fine.

BK, I would definitely NOT email them. That sounds like such a bad idea.  Is it possible that when the parents were mad at you that they just decided to get rid of everything you gave them?

I would really not blame anything on the daughter. She's just a kid.

The thing is, how much money could they have gotten for selling the books to the used book store?  I really don't think that you should do anything. Not taking pictures of the books. Not sending lawyers letters. Calm down and think things through. In the grand scheme of things, what they did was not nice.  But you haven't been close to them for quite a while.  They obviously have issues. But those are their issues. I would just let it go.

Why am I watching a Golden Girls marathon when I've seen all the shows before? I guess because I still think they're very funny.

Same reason I'm watching NCIS reruns on USA...

This is good advice...unless there are indeed artistic issues about arangements and things that deserve compensation.  And that is best handled on the advice of a lawyer.

Sorry, BK, about your revolting discovery today.  I recommend you stop looking at/for those books while I stop looking at certain ladies' Facebook pages.

Good idea Ginny.  Will you both remove these people from your FB friends?

Thought about it, but decided that's too "junior high."

That has happened to me and when I asked it was shown to me that the email was sent and sure enough it was there in my spam folder, but neither my Blackberry nor Aol had registered it .  But i guess there's no smooth way.  This can't be an intentional slight, I just feel it, just someone being forgetful when drawing up their list.

DR Ginny I would efinitely not unfriend those people. I totally agree. This is way too junior high. I"m sure there is a reasonable explanation.

As Pogue says above, I have to have a lawyer e-mail them because I'm sure they will continue to attempt to use my material, arrangements and patter, all of which I own and which I will not allow.  They do not deserve them and they are not entitled to them.

BK - I've learned lately never to be surprised these days, and sad I'm not feeling level-headed enough right now to offer valuable thoughts, but it sounds really terrible to have discovered that, and also having to hold it in at the store when you found it.

We artistes tend to be emotional beings and always have the instinct to respond immediately and not pleasantly.  But what does one gain from that, exactly?  Momentary satisfaction, I suppose, but that's about it.  Saying nothing is the high road - they can do what they please and when people like this create this aura of negativity, one doesn't have to do anything at all - one just sits back and karma does the rest.  And when I've behaved poorly in my past life, believe me I paid thanks to karma - which is why I constantly strive to be a decent human being - who needs bad karma?  Not me.  That I leave to them.

I pulled a muscle or did something in my hip today.  It isn't too bad if I keep getting up & moving.  I went for a short walk before and after getting my hair cut today.

I need to move around again.

Have they used your material and arrangements? I thought that you had told them not to do this.

I won tickets to the Iowa Piano Competition but am not feeling well today so I decided not to go.  The good news is a friend called to see if I had any extra tickets for a couple students in town from Japan.  I was so glad I could say yes and Yamiko picked them up about an hour before the concert.

I think responding when you are emotional is not a good thing. So I'm glad that you decided to wait.

I have a question though. Why are you so mad at them? You don't know for sure that they didn't do this months ago before you sort of reconciled with them.  What they did was really not nice.  But it sort of reminds me of what someone does when they break up with someone else. They get rid of all their stuff.  Should they have done this? No. Was it nice? No.  Does it hurt your feelings. Of course.

I think you mentioned once that they were dealing with other issues. Just take the high road here.  No need to wish them bad karma.
