You can explain until the cows come home why the government feels they have the right to tax money that's already been taxed and withheld and I will continue to point out the trillions of dollars they have WASTED of YOUR money - start with the bailout, in which wealthy people got wealthier and nothing helpful happened.  Let's just start there with that monumental waste of time and money.  The people who caused the economic problems all get helped.  Note: They didn't need the help - they were already the wealthiest individuals in the world.  The people who need help were not helped.

Good morning, all! No nightmares, last night, but I did dream that I was in a courtroom and Tallulah Bankhead was on the witness stand!

Another day at Toyland: I have three or four new scores to look over, and some corrections to give Curtis. Following that, I need to stop at my pharmacy for my meds.

DR TCB,  when my union pension began in January, they asked me how much I wanted deducted per payment for state and government taxes. That's when I realized that maybe my social security wasn't tax free income. So I called social security, dowloaded the form, filledit out and hand delivered it to my local office in late December. I was fortunate that I only received three payments by the end of the year, and I'm really sorry that you've got such a bill to pay.

Tallulah Bankhead on the witness stand!  LOL!

From DR TCB:
Quote
Actually, Fred, I very foolishly believed my brother in law when he told me that the figure I was receiving as Social Security Disability was After taxes.  He had been on Disability for several years, so I assumed he knew what he was saying.

Ouch!

Does WA also tax you on Social Security?  Oregon doesn't but then we are hit hard with the income tax which you don't have.

I had answered some local burrito restaurant's movie trivia question back in December. It was about "Les Miz" and won. Well, I forgot to pick up the prize until the other day. Turned out to be dinner for two at the burrito place and two free movie tickets. I like that.

Nice score DR JOHN G!

Very nice!!

Sure is.  Congrats.

Yesterday BK asked:

Anyone coming to see me in Washington?

I'm already here!  Do you know your schedule?

I'm in on the 19th - I'll probably have that evening free.  Then days I'm working on the 20th and 21st and 22nd, but evenings are probably free each of those times.  I'm seeing her show on Friday night I'd imagine and then I have time on Saturday before I go to the airport at two-thirty.

Having four people audition for the Hofstetter audio books has turned into fifteen and may go to twenty - the more to choose from, the better.

I pleasantly surprised & pleased Keith has been recording so many classic movies.  Last night we watched HEAVEN KNOWS, MR ALLISON with Deborah Kerr & Robert Mitchum.

It gives me great pleasure when Keith watches a movie for the first time and thinks it is a wonderful as I do.  Actually, this time around I appreciated the movie even more.

Certainly no need to tell me, I have a blog dedicated to the bailout I love :)  - love to make fun of, that is.

You'll never hear me defend taxing social security benefits.  But the logic was supposed to be that rich people should not get the benefits tax-free, and likewise people who were not yet retired and were pulling in a nice income would also be taxed on the benefits as well.   but somehow, they set the threshold WAY WAY too low, so the idea that it's only the people who are doing well otherwise financially  and still getting social security benefits would be taxed on those benefits - that idea somehow slipped away.

Recently we have watched two movies I think Mitchum was terrific in.

The mention of WINDS & WAR is a reminder how much I disliked him in it.  I loved the book I was horrified with the casting & performance of the three stars, Mitchum (should have been Lou Grant but he was "blacklisted" back then), Jan-Michael Vincent who sulked through the entire series when he was suppose to be charming & lovable.  And then there was Ally McGraw who was too old and void of talent.  It still frustrates me how the casting ruined this for me.

Tallulah Bankhead on the witness stand!  LOL!

How about Tallulah as the court clerk reading the jury verdict:  "They said you're going to die."

(I think that's a reference to either a Tallulah or Bette davis joke, or both.)

Oops, sorry, I forgot to log out when I left for the soup supper at the book sale site.  We have a LOT of books - and puzzles and games and CDs and DVDs - to sell this coming weekend.

I read this on FB today and got a kick out of it.

"When told the reason for daylight savings time, the Old Indian Chief said, "Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket"."
