I know, Jane. Someone unfriended me once that I know of. I figured it out. I had hurt feelings for a while. I guess I'd rather not know if someone unfriends me.
I've only had one real friend unfriend me. A few others did & I was just fine with it or, in one situation, understood the person was reducing their FB friend to their personal friends.
It is hard not to notice when someone is posting on a regular basis and then stops. My first instinct is to make sure the person is ok.
From time to time I've cut down on the number of friends on facebook. I don't decide it by who is a real friend. If they don't ever post I may unfriend them. It's like having an eavesdropper, just listening and reading and never saying a word. That's kind of creepy.
If all they ever post is political stuff or stuff I'm not interested in at all, I have unfriended them. I did that for several people during the last election. Some I have sent a new friend invitation, some I haven't. I had a friend who was commenting negatively on everything I was posting....I don't need that on my facebook, so I'd deleted her comments. The response was that I would never let anyone disagree with me....so I unfriended her. It is my facebook page, she can say anything she wants to on her page she didn't need to be snarky on mine.
